Looking forward to this interview Isclay :D
Some boring questions from me as usual

1.New calypso looted weapons has super low decay compared with the same level arkadia weapons, it makes arkadia weapons hard to compete with those weapons, so it decreased the demand of Arkadian minerals, is there any solution about it?
2.Could we have some Arkadia unlimited amps that are able to compete with existing unlimited ones like Omegaton a-series and Fi/Ra/Co amp in terms of eco?
3.What would you do/add if you can control the space servers around Arkadia?
4.Did you heard any exciting news from Mindark when you were in Sweden?
5.Could you share some interesting things that happened/heard in Sweden with us?
6.Could you share some pictures of new clothes/armors(after avatar update) with us?
7.Arkoin broker expected to be in in next February. Could we get some more events like Arkoin auction to help us consume Arkoin until then?
8.Arkadia has launched over 1 and half year, would you expect any Land Area up for sale before 2 year anniversary of Arkadia?
9.Free festival gift of Arkadia, it's been 19 months since Arkadia launched, but we haven't get any festival gift yet. Would we get any anytime soon?
    10. Animal parts(IE:carabok leg fur and others) are TT food since it first added into loot, do you have any plan to make them more useful so hunters won't suffer from these TT food.

Looking forward to this interview. Feels great to have the "Scoop" pre VU interview this time on NR. Its good that David trades back and forth between the two major stations for these interviews. I think it enforces his ideals and work for trying to create balance for everyone on Ark. (Now if we could only promote that for MA and ALL the planets and not them favoring Calypso still after nearly 3 years of "Planet Partners")

I have a bunch of questions that should really be answered but I wont put David on the spot for things he really can not answer. Seems like anything pertinant I want to know would make him sound like an MA interview as he would only be able to say I really can not comment on that.

That being said I like the interviews David does where he lets out what he wants us to hear about. That is usually more exciting to hear then any of the answerable questions I would have.

    Hi,

Thx to you to do this, but:

Not all EU participants are native English speakers, and most of them will understand - actually nothing.
I'm quite sure to be able to read and write sufficient English, but I failed at David's accent.
DJ's questions came through quite clearly, but David's responses - no way.

With all due respect, acknowledging your efforts, welcoming your work:

Wouldn't it be possible to add a transcript to plain English, in a reasonable time? I, as a not native English speaker as at least a third of all EU participants (guesstimated, with quite many among with even less knowledge of the language), feel left out. It's not that my English knowledge would be this low, but there's just a difference among written communication and spoken one.

The latter is much more hard for "aliens" like me, especially it it's not-professional speakers. Maybe I could understand if I had a high-ql version that I could play with reduced speed? Maybe I could understand if David would remove his 300g of chewing gum before the interview? Maybe there'd been some folks that would like to add to their reputation doing translating tasks?

With all due respect, acknowledging your efforts, welcoming your work: I did understand nearly nothing and stopped the interview at maybe 2:30, frustrated. As will have done my European (not GB) friends as well as my Asian friends.

Cannot imagine that this is your goal. Cannot imagine that you're doing this for the English-natives only. Guess you just forgot that there's a lot of players you wouldn't reach with such a interview.

Have a good time, and use it to think about this topic!

Agreed. Understand Isclay perfectly, but when David speaks it sounds to me like someone with a towell in mouth :)
As a non native speaker, I have had some problems to understand and I think I got maybe less then 50% what was said. Some written text would be really nice :)

You are sure that you know the difference between insulting someone and asking(friendly) someone if it is possible to get a written text, combined wih a little (friendly meant) joking? Both posts, Xandras and my one, were written in a friendly way, there is no need to answer in the way you did. No offense Bill, but there was no need for that. I would accept a simple "no, to much work to write down" and think others too. Insulting someone was not the intension. And if you angry about the towell part(guessing), I appologise to David and you. This is -in my country- a friendly meant joke. Maybe the translation was not perfect and it comes out in a bad way for that reason.

    Cu

Interesting... IMO, David's accent is pretty mild for an Aussie. I don't hear a towel/gum thing at all, just a normal accent. But I do understand that it can be tough to get a handle on, for those who haven't haven't had exposure to it. I'm pretty good with accents and sometimes even I have to turn the subtitles on when watching Australian movies. But David's is quite understandable for me, except for the occasional colloquial term that I have to look up. Of course, a word for word transcript would be great; if that's too much work, at least post a point by point summary. Hey, look on the bright side, it could be Scottish.

    Hi,

I can assure you that in no way my:
was meant to be dramatic or, especially, insulting.

Should it have been received as such, I honestly apologize - this wasn't my intention!

The "chewing gum" thingy is a running gag among many not-English-natives when it comes to describe the sound of an English dialect - it's a friendly joke, not more.

Understanding other languages or not is a rather sophisticated topic - you'll experience quite some surprises with it. Lemme give you an anecdotal example from the times "when I was young", ages ago:

I was in high school, and during the vacancies some of us had exchange students from English-speaking countries. An educational program from the school. It was three of them that was with us, with my friends and me, in this summer:
    - a son of a sheep farmer from the rural areas of Scotland, and
    - a guy from a small town in Texas that described himself as "a native Redneck", and
    - an upper-class boy from London.

We had "enjoyed" maybe 4 or 5 years of English language teachings at this time. What do you think, with whom was it easy to communicate, and with whom there was close to insurmountable language problems?

Lemme tell ya, it was the London boy that left after only 1 week. Not because we didn't like each other, he was a great guy - but we just didn't understand each other. "What did he say?" was the most used phrase when trying to communicate with him.

With the two other guys (those with heavy dialects) there was no problem - we established a kind of a Pidgin quickly, and there wasn't any problems.
Guess it's quite hard to understand how a not-native in your language will receive what you say. After all, you're known to this language, and you'll have no major problem to understand even quite strange dialects of it.
But the aliens will have a complete different experience of the language, they might even have learned a "dialect" that is rarely used in the daily communication - for us back then it was "Oxford English" first, later "BBC English" ...

So if you want to get understood by not-natives you should use kind of a "simple speak", should use a bit more emphasis than usually, and should talk a bit slower. As Isclay did quite well in the interview. Whereas Mr. Dobson, whom I value most high, and praise at any opportunity else, failed this time, IMHO.

Well, no real reason to do interviews now in the international Pidgin. No real reason to make a complete transcript every time. Whereas, wouldn't this be a nice job for the Arkadian PR guys?

I'm not complaining here, I'm not after drama, and the last thing I'd want to do is to attack/ insult anybody.
What I'm asking for is to realize that there's a lot of not-native-speakers out there, and to think of if they should be left out in the cold, or if there'd be a way to include them. Not more, not less.

Thanks for reading. and - Peace?

    Have a good time!

I have been all over the world and heard many languages. I have never once insulted the way people talk. I only speak english yet I managed to get around and understand people and do or get what I wanted or needed no matter where I went. I have NEVER subscribed to that Politcly correct bullshit as you all know. I DO how ever expct the ones amongst you that do, follow your own preachings of PC. There have been MANY times I have said something in jest on these forums only to be swarmed by the PC people of our world with neg reps and pages of "Your an asshole" posts. Now when someone calls you on something its Oh I only meant it to be funny.

Now the shoe is on the other foot. Be glad you dont get swarmed by the pack and have a bunch of neg reps.

Hopefully the lesson for today has been learned.

    Teaching a lesson.. wow :)

You are messing with the wrong guy, my time is to wortwhile for me to continue this. I am tired of your style of "discussing" with others. Maybe other ppl having more patience with you and your missing abilities for discussing things in a mature way, showing up in most of your posts. Not me. Welcome -as first person ever- to my ignore list.

All - A transcript and/or a set of bullet points is being produced. This will take some time so please be patient.

    Cheers,
