    Rebalancing

The team at Arkadia Studios has been working hard on major new content for next year's first update. We can't talk too much about it for now, but let's just say we're quietly excited!

Today's update, however, is focused primarily on rebalancing and bugfixing. Changes are as follows:

    Creature Stats

As mentioned in the Entropia Universe 12.10 Release Notes, universe-wide change to balancing requirements for creatures has resulted in the need for review of all creature statistics. In most cases, our creatures were already well-balanced, however the following creatures had changes made:

    • Scoria
    • Kadra
    • Riptor
    • Nusul
    • Magurg Female
    • Oratan Lancer
    • Aakas Defender, Aakas Paladin, Aakas Sentinel, Aakas Warden
    • Dehera Attacker, Dehera Brute, Dehera Charger, Dehera Destroyer, Dehera Exterminator, Dehera Furion, Dehera Giant, Dehera Hero, Dehera Infuriator, Dehera Juggernaut

    Weapon Stats

A universe-wide change to balancing requirements for weapons has resulted in the need for review of the Herman Industries weapon range. In our cases, this includes the entire ASI, ARK, CAP and LAW pistol and rifle series.

The requirement was that the whole range of weapons needed to have Skill Increase Bonus (SIB) figures adjusted in order for the rest of the statistics to remain the same. As a result, in general the SIB levels have increased for these weapons.

We understand that for those colonists who own such weapons (and the relevant Blueprints), this means a higher skill requirement to continue to be able to use the weapon. We realise this is an inconvenience and we apologise.

On the other hand, we took the decision to make this change, because it now appears to mean the weapon availability will improve. We hope this will be particularly noticeable at the higher ends of the ASI, ARK, CAP and LAW weapon series.

We are aware also that these changes open up SIB level gaps between the various weapons. This of course is an unintended consequence, and we are already looking at the possibility of new ranges of weapons in future, in order to fill these gaps.

Please understand that we are doing our best to look after you, our colonists, and we believe this change to be in the best long term interest of your community.

    Fixes and Improvements

    • In the first of many future terrain updates, the area around Celeste Quarry has had some terrain changes. We encourage you to take your Hoverpod for a drive, so you can see what the future of Arkadian terraforming and landscaping holds.
    • A new Gallard spawn has been added to the north-east of Celeste Quarry. This is easily reached by following the tunnel through the hill from the Quarry, the entrance for which is at 31254, 9598.
    • Terrain and path updates have also been made around the Nusul Spawn area, primarily beginning from Celeste Outpost at 27267, 10933, and up through the hills to the north-west, all the way to a new entrance of Fearless Firebase Academy at 25047, 15354.
    • The ACA Representative's missions have been adjusted so that it should now be possible to complete all missions.
    • All ten existing instances under the ancient city of Aakas should now be operating correctly. It should now be possible to exit the instance directly after looting the Treasure Chests.

    Known Issues

    • Gallard's collision box is the wrong size, and has already been adjusted. This change will come through with the upcoming patch, expected next week.
    • The instance behind the Arkadian Golden Door is still causing the server to crash. We are hopeful to have this rectified by the next update.
    • Arkoin Brokers are still not operational. At this stage we are unsure of a time for the fix, however we are hopeful of having it for our first update of 2013.

Its going to be interesting to see how the rebalance pans out. Higher cost to kill mobs then should pay out more. Cool! Scoria were extremely high HP, so be interesting to see. More high end weapon drops! nice

really unbelievable, and it looks like this is the straw that broke the camels back for me.
some people have been quite critical of the arkadian creature stats when compared to calypso, in no way is 2x-3x the decay "well balanced" and the solution is to persuade calypso to increase the decay on some creatures???
i had some respect for the team here but this is beyond pathetic.

im not even going to comment on how ridiculous this is beyond saying have you learnt nothing from past mistakes, if you are going to change stats and it has unintended consequences maybe just maybe you should fix this before making the change?

    there are still no brokers?

from my point of view arkadia has been a complete disaster since the treasure and instances have been introduced and with this update i have completely lost confidence in the team, i would love to hear how the team believes any of this counts as looking after customers or is in our best interest.

You do understand that this change was required by MA and has to be complied by all PP's including Caly. You should perhaps also consider that for a smoother development process it is very important to balance things out and considering MA and PP's are very new in this domain, we will have to adjust to the latencies coming forward cause of it. I personally dont think Arkadia can be blamed for these as these changes obviously happened at MA HQ.

    My 2 cents

I am actually pretty happy about this as before there wasn't a single Arkadian Gun that was high enough lvl for me to get any SIB at all from it

Scoria received a big nerf on HP, young from 3500>2210. Nusul also received some nerf on HP but not as much as Scoria. Riptor's HP has very little change, but I can't hunt it now because I can't max my ASI-30 desert anymore, so needs others to check if they hits more hard or more often.

Just saying weapon decay should also be changed to fit new looted/crafted weapons on Calypso/Rocktropia, their new weapons has much lower decay than Arkadian ones, it brings some disadvantages to Arkadian weapons.

and where is our mining amp....

Abslutely trashed me using my ASI-40 Arctic - had to sell it because the downgrade in damage and shots was ludicrous!! So what was once a good weapon is now unusable, so back to the X1 it is.

    NOT a good move!

Feeling a tad pissed off with this!

This is really getting outrageous. Eventually they will descide to REBALANCE everything, effectivly nerfing everyones investments. It is partially our fault as the players for not doing somthing about this with the FIRST STAT CHANGE to an item in game. When they nerfed scanners. Since then they have effectivly and systematically screwed up multiple other items and gear in game.

Whatever happened that that statement Marco made about not changing items after they were in game?

and ffs please god stop adding new useless components. 90% of all loot is crap nowdays with no markup and little or no use. WE dont need more components or treasure components or mob parts ect. We need actual stuff (BPs) that will increase the demand for the stuff we already have in game.

Fallen... I don't feel all your comments are fair.

    1) Creature statistic rebalancing is the province of MindArk. Laying responsibility for how creatures "appear to affect your PED card" does not seem to be a function then of either
    - the rebalance, or any other issue with the stats of the creatures concerned
    - Arkadia's dev team, since MindArk themselves approve these creatures after a full review

I agree you could make a case about them not having actioned your request, but maybe the number of people "critical about the Arkadian creatures" is less than the number who appear to be happy with them. Nothing forces you to hunt, let alone hunt the specific creatures that are causing you issues.

    2) Weapon Skill Increase Bonus review had an "unintended consequence" that gaps appeared between the weapon SIB ranges.
I think it's important to understand here that obviously Arkadia team means that WHEN THEY DESIGNED the weapons originally, they INTENDED the range to be contiguous, and built it so. So the change leaves these weapons now "not quite as they were originally intended" to be in terms of full level range coverage.

This is not a problem that could be fixed in advance, unless MA had done a full weapon review and then waited a while for Planet Partners to firstly identify the new gaps and secondly build the weapons (and get them approved as well) to go into the same update release.

So while this does mean that for a release or two we may have some folks who can't use the exact Arkadian weapon they were previously using, the universe has a lot of variety and no doubt some other option will be available. It may even cause a market opportunity for a short period. And the Dev team have already said they are moving to address this.

    3) I cannot speak for your confidence in the team, but I'd like to present you a different way of viewing the same situation.
My own confidence in them has only grown over the last few releases. Treasure Hunting is a major new system and in what would usually be considered a very smart and agile fashion, the A-team have deployed it in a phased approach which allows major sections and parts of it to bed down, be double-checked by game use while the final pieces come online.

I have been impressed by their ability to select the relevant systems, their dependant sub-systems, and to bring enoguh functionality in at every stage to make a logical update to the system, while retaining the overall phasing. This speaks volumes to me about their planning, foresight, and project management skills.

At the same time, they have shown truly world-class client responsiveness and in all cases where possible have shared up front what is happening and what the hold ups are in solid, simple fashion. They are in some ways in an unenviable position of developing a game for which they are assuming full responsibility on a platform and with development tools that they are not fully in control of, and must rely on a third party to manage for them.

I have to tell you, from personal experience, that that is NO MEAN FEAT.

I can also tell you that their steps in marketing, opening up opportunities for the platform, and negotiating new tools and options that they want to build into their world set them apart as leaders in the areas of innovation and vision for this game.

If you listened to the radio broadcast(s), you will have heard that the only reason the brokers are not online right now is because MindArk has some concerns and issues with the QUALITY OF THE LOOT Arkadia wants to reward you with. Those details are in negotiation, and they are IN negotiation because Arkadia Studios DO NOT want to settle for giving you junk. They'd rather explore their options to find ways to keep giving the lovely cool stuff, and work with MindArk's concerns about item limits.

So - while I agree that it does bite a little that the actual items in the brokers are not there yet, I personally am starting to get really, really interested to see what will be in there eventually.

And for the moment, all the missions can be done and handed in (this was my biggest problem since I didn't want to blow loads of PEDs when I've already maxed the one level of turn in - but now I can go hand it in) so you can actually stockpile in advance if you want.

So anyway. Just wanted to put my hand up and offer another way of looking at things, and to send my thanks to the Ark team for such a great job done so far and kudos for their long term planning and thinking. I for one am looking forwards to being here when their dreams start to crystallise around us all.

I think it wasnt a good idea at all to 'adjust/ balance' the lvl requirements for all L Sib Herman weapons. I wont be able to hunt certain Arkadian mobs now anymore... so I guess I am going to buy even more L guns on Calypso and/or stick to small/medium mobs that i can finish with my UL sib weapons.

I doubt that this adjustment on weapon stats will turn out to bring anything good to planet arkadia/ arkadian economy/ the avg. player.

Yep, same here. Players can't use the guns they are used to, guns sell for less MU. I don't see how anybody benefits from this change. Guess what? All those nice UL weapons players spent loads of cash on? Better sell them before MA nerfs their stats too and they're worthless.

This sounds absolutely not right... would be good to hear something from David/Cyrus/Chris regarding this.
