Dave, Cyrus, Chris, Can you please provide some feedback about the ongoing issues with the ACA mission brokers and the Arkoin Brokers? I feel you have been far too quiet about the situation. Information vacuums breed conspiracy theories and exacerbate player dissatisfaction. Rather than go over too much old ground I will refer you to this excellent post by Anthony Ranger Morris that discusses the perceived impact of these missing features. Regarding the Arkoin brokers: These brokers have never been functional since they were first dropped into the landscape in the VU that followed the launch of instances. At the time, the word from someone on your team (sorry I forget exactly who) was that MA had concerns about a possible exploit and would not enable them until the issue has been resolved. Q: can you confirm that this is the blocking issue? If not, what is the real problem. Q: has there been an agreement between MA and Ark devs exactly how the issue will be resolved (its been around 3 months...)? Q: when do you reasonably expect an agreed resolution to make it into a VU available to us? Regarding ACA mission brokers: These were briefly functional (I was able to initiate all the missions) but were disabled shortly after. I have no idea why they were turned off. Am not really seeing how it could be an exploit issue as these are just another type of mob mission broker. Q: Why arent they working? Q Has a resolution been agreed with MA? Q: When do you reasonably expect an agreed resolution to make it into a VU available to us. I'm not asking you to make commitments you may not be able to keep. I just want you to be upfront about what is going on and set some reasonable expectations for the player community. Regards, KikkiJikki
Just FYI: at the top of every thread is a little menu called "thread tools". There is an option on there to Subscribe to the thread, without needing to post anything into the thread itself. Probably you knew that already, but just in case there are other users who didn't know... there you go.
Hi Guys, I'm sorry for the long delay in getting back with whats going on. There have been a lot happening lately keeping us and MA quite busy. Unfortunately the issue with the brokers and the possible exploit is not easy to fix with the current broker system and causes even worse problems in testing. Due to the coding issue MA has opted to create a new system for the brokers. The new system will also bring in extra options that we can't really go into now. We are hopeful that the system will be ready soon (We expect at the latest February). The ACA missions has bugged out due to a rename of the missions and having the missions NPC replicated. This caused that one part of the mission bugs out making handing it in not to function correctly. This unfortunately happened at the worst possible time due to the partner update and patch being rolled into one during the last update and causing a delay in getting this patched in. The issue will be fixed with the next partner update early in December. Regards, Chris
I really hope the december release has something fun, because i've become really disappointed with arkadia the last few months
Chris, thanks for your response. I'm glad to have a better understanding of the situation even if it wasn't as positive as I would have liked. The eta for Arkoin brokers is bothersome, especially as it requires development of new brokers. MA have never been reliable in meeting schedules for new development. It looks like I wont be selling many keys for the next few months. Current MU is generally below cost of production for me. However, the ACA mission brokers should help a little once they get enabled.
The ACA broker kindly gives you all missions until u haven't completed any ACA missions. This is how it works right now. As soon as any ACA mission reaches stage 1 the broker becomes disabled - only for you. So, from the player's perspective there's just one bug, the broker becoming non-interactive after 1st mission and, afaik, this is how it has been right since it was introduced. How can u disable something that is already disabled 'cause of the bug? Now we have official confirmation there's this additional problem, a possible exploit. OK, that explains why the bug wasn't fixed, why the ACA brokers were left disabled for so long. What i can't understand, why's there 2 different dates for one fix? I mean, if u have to make sure the system can't be exploited, u can't enable the brokers already in December and fix the exploit in February... Have this stupid feeling i'm missing something here, but i can't help it, now i'm even more confused than before!
Fifth, two types of brokers: Arkoin brokers - disabled due to exploit issue ACA mission brokers - bugged
