    Arkadians

Do you think we are ready for the IFN VTSAF. (Variable Terrain and Space Attack Fighter)

It would be similar design to a QUAD, at least 104km/h and carry some nice Arkadian firepower as well.

    Dev team....please please do this!

    Cheers

Hopefully a better looking than a quad too. Quad is ugly, it looks like being designed by 2 people who didn't knew each other (streamlined hull vs angular wings). Ark can do better, I'm sure.

I'd like something streamlined and isn't looking like an Earth jet fighters :)

well David told us in interview that he thinks that space and space vehicles are MindArks department, so I think they are not very high on their list right now. But if they would be doing one I would vote for something that we don't have on earth (that we know of) and something not to 'out there' and something that could actually fly IF it was build IRL, so take in account a little bit of physics and aerodynamic.

I for one were always pretty intrigued by the F-302 in the Stargate series

I really like the reverse wing design.

hehe, i think this game does not follow IRL at all.. like physics and such. Its pure fantasy.

So the sky is the limit on space vehicles. Nothing is acurate anyways, so no sense in trying to nit pick " close to accuracy" when a very large majority of the game is simply scientifically impossible.

Soooo i say they have fun and make something artistically appealing. Screw science.

And they shouldn't run on oil, they should run on Star Dust.

Well they should not go and test their design with NASA or anything, but something that looks a bit realistic would be nice (not even sure if the F-302 could actually fly in a aerodynamic point of view). I agree also that the vehicles should not run on oil. All the Caly vehicles I understand, but the hoverpod is just wrong, should be anti gravity components or Anti Matter or something.

Speaking of the hoverpod, I know stuff like that is not possible IRL either (as far as we know), but it looks like something that is possible and that actually what I meant to say in my earlier post.

    Dev team

Calypso has many many vehicles now
Rocktropia has quite a few as well
Cyrene now has over 5 and hasn't launched yet
Arkadia has only 1 the Hoverpod. The playerbase isn't big enough can not be the party line anymore. Cyrene barely has any players yet has multiple vehicles.
Its time for a fast Arkadian spacecraft. This should be a priority now.

    Cheers

Wanna have something like a Tie-fighter or X-wing. Not a 1:1 copy, but something near that.

Leaving aside visual aspects, any new space capable vehicle needs to have different capabilities to the existing options without necessarily being better or worse than them. If the "Arkadian Quad" is the same as the current quad but faster then everyone will just switch, screwing over current quad crafters. If it is the same but slower then no one will use it. So the characteristics need to be mixed up a bit. eg:

    - fast but unarmed, possibly no passenger seats - for a single player to outrun pirates in the right circumstances, but a smart pirate team could deal with that so its not pefect. Speed could also be impacted by the mass of cargo/passengers.
    - a little slower but tougher - either better armour or access to a gun with better dps.

So then your choice of vehicle depends on what it is you are trying to achieve.

    Hi,

That's what I like to see. A small, fast 1-person space vehicle without any cargo bay, and with no weapons at all. To compensate this, medium shields (SI) and high speed as well as high maneuverability.
Thus it wouldn't cannibalize the other spacecraft, it would be just another class. A severely limited class at the one hand, with some unique advantages at the other hand.

And I'd not use one of the designs known to us. We are some centuries ahead of our RL time, so why use a design that's outdated even now already?

This might be a vehicle created my Mind Force, a small, semi-transparent, glowing sphere surrounding a pilots seat that has the necessary controls attached. You spawn the seat, then create the sphere holding it.

You'd need a certain amount of a basic ore to spawn (once, 1 Zulax?), and sweat to drive it (continuously). Maybe.
Within the atmosphere it might be a bit more expensive to use then a VTOL, but a bit faster and quicker turning. In space it might hit the costs of a full featured Quad, but be seriously faster.

This would be something fresh and new, and might stimulate the economy. IMHO.

    Have fun!

On the "mind powered travel" theme, how about a spacesuit (armoured like a vehicle but heavy and clumsy to move in on the ground) and a new long-range TP chip that only works in space, together with a thruster backpack for short-range stuff?

This would have the advantage of being able to use personal weapons in space, and the disadvantage of being unable to take passengers. The new TP chip would have to have really high decay and to compensate, drop frequently and/or be manufacturable. Perhaps using some of the TT-food rubbish that currently infests all varieties of Arkadian loot?
