After feedback from the community, the OP has been updated with new rules. We ask participants to pay particular attention to rule 5 which has been amended, and the new rules 6 and 7.

Please note additionally that items 005 and 006, the Alienware X51 Desktops, have been enhanced to give the option for the auction winner to pay to upgrade the prize to a higher level piece of equipment. See the relevant threads here and here for more details.

ok i see a slight change in the post with the added 6 & 7 rule. Butwhat most ppl were concerned about is the length of the auction 3 weeks is along time.

 

What happens is the winning bid is invalid?

For example:
xx.76 (i.e. has decimal fraction which cannot be traded)?
or
does not increase by 500 peds from previous bid as stated in rules?
or
bid is in peds
or
bid only states number (hence currency of bid unknown)?

etc

 

It seems pretty clear to me that a bid has be to valid to win.

 

To me as well but history shows otherwise. Also best to have a response on that from official as many bids are in fact invalid.

 

While I welcome this possibility to upgrade have to ask details regarding the "private arrangement" ... I understand your reasoning however that's a bit too unclear for me.
To explain ... there are 4 system options with the one in auction beeing the entry system valued on Dell's site at ~700 USD. The highest system is valued at ~1,250 USD - so a 550 USD difference between them.
Now, let's assume I win one of the auctions on this entry system for 300K Arkoins but I'd like to get the highest one. Am I right to believe I can achieve this with a difference in Arkoins at the reference price I payed - meaning ~235K Arkoins ? Or your expectations are more towards Dell's reference price ? Meaning something like ~5,500 PEDs ? Or you'll count Arkoins at TT value for the difference - ~550K Arkoins ?
See my point ? ... that's why I think such "arrangements" should be clearly explained from the start

 

lucky what they are saying is you can buy the computer for the winning bid of arkoins but if you would like to upgrade it then it will cost you cash to the manufacturer i.e. Dell. basically would work like a gift certificate the value of the computer is say 500 usd then the certificate would be for 500 and if you want to upgrade it you do it when you order the computer or when the computer is ordered by Arkadia.

 

Where's that clearly stated ? I only read "The winner will have the option to pay to upgrade the prize as desired, after the auction has ended, by private arrangement with Arkadia Studios" ... that can mean almost anything imho, even covering the difference in Arkoins .... so that's why I requested clarification on this particular aspect.
