That's the wrong way to look at it. First of all, the MU on the CAP-303 is not pure profit. Most of it goes to crafting loss and material MU. The crafter probably makes a couple ped profit per gun, if that. Not too many crafters are going to sell them for a loss, so u hardly ever see these under 125% or so. L guns are designed to be more efficient than their UL counterparts, to leave room for crafter MU. Here are some numbers: The cap-303 smuggler +A104 does 2.883 dmg/pec for 46.98 dmg/sec. The cap-303 jungle +A104 does 2.854 dmg/pec (at 128% MU) for 49.52 dmg/sec. So including MU, the cap-303 jungle is ONLY 1% less economical than the smuggler. If you ask me, I say the L version compares very favorably... with the L version you pay 10 ped extra per 1000 ped hunt, but get 10% higher dps... and don't have to invest serious cash into the gun. I'm not sure what cap-303 smugglers would go for, but I suppose it's 20k+. The real question is whether mobs that require 50 dps are worth hunting if you hope to at least break even, and that's a completely different question.
Well it really depends on what you are hunting... personally I think hunting on arkadia is WAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY better then on calypso, there is just so much more mu to be had here. At worst my log was down -160 ped after 16k spent ... that is 99% return rate. I shouldn't be giving away secrets but anyone with half a brain can pick this up from my logs. For Tiarak stalkers you need 30-40 dps and some decent armor but they drop asi20 desert pistols quite regular for me, the asi 20 desert+beast is one of the weapons I mostly use for the big tiarak. I use those same asi20 desert pistols for small riptor who tend to loot alot of asi10 jungle pistols and good mu aror parts, riptor occasionally drop a law 101 jungle as well. The law 101 jungle I use for oro stalkers (good loots and ocasional cap 101 arctic) and the asi 10 jungle works great unamped for small nusul or small tiarak. Occasionally I will buy a higher dps L weapon (ark 30 series or asi30/40) and go for a big hunt on otorugi/kamaldon etc. I have bought so few weapons considering the amount of peds I have cycled its insane.... Ive also sold quite a few at high mu. You will also get way better mu for your animal oils here, I had stacks of animal oils on caly auction @101% mu for days without them selling that same oils sold within a few hours on arkadia priced between 105% & 107% Mu. Not to mention all the output amplifiers, high mu paints and skins I loot.
I think an ava's luck does tend to go in cycles. I used to stick to small mobs on Ark (and take the opportunity to skill up on whip etc) unless bored/flush enough to go mad for a few hours, because my returns on larger mobs were generally pretty dismal, like yours. Lately, though, the need to get crafting ingredients that I couldn;t gind on auction, coupled with the wish to complete a lot of stage 2 missions before the nerf, got me hunting the big mobs pretty intensively. To my surprise, rerurns were pretty good! Nothing dramatic, but little or no loss. Looted loads of nice weps too, but these tended tocome in rashes. I mean , one day I think "hmmm, guns stopped dropping", next day I loot 5. I don't think Ark is any worse (or better) than Caly for loot, on general. Just it's highly variable everywhere. jay
PS what others said about better mu on small mobs is right. However, that's not likely to last, with everybody hunting them! lol I've always thought this a flaw with Ark mobs tbh. It kinda reverses the normal order of things, where newbies accept a PEd loss, and slowly move up the mob ladder, often with a hope of making profit in the dim distant future (this hope used to be realistic, if you were careful of your PED. Not sure it is now) well, i don't think anybody should invest on the basis that they might make a profit some day. Hopefully we're mostly just having fun! But that does mean that the whole principle that the players pay for the game gets established early on. Right now, on Ark, we seem to have a whole new generation who think that MA should be paying the players, not vice-versa. They don't get weeded out by harsh reality, like they do on Caly, because that does appear to be true at low levels! However, when they try to progress beyind small mobs , they start complaining bitterly- not about overlarge losseds, like yourself, just that they no longer profit, like they should! Obviously, it's not helpful to the future of the game to inculcate this attitude! And it really is pretty damned silly to have rerturns nerfed for making progress, rather than be rewarded! That's bound to discourage people, even those with reasonable expectations. Anyways, this is somewhat off-topic. Sorry. But is on my mind a lot, because I really want this game to have a future. jay
I have acctualy not reallly thougth bout that one before but thats a really good point. To high profit early stage and MU lessening as U increase is kinda bad when U think bout it. On the other hand some of thoose MUs will fix themselfs now. Halix and Tiarak are 2 examples of mobs that from now on will have alot more hunters on em as of the new missions. Gonna grind that thought for abit I think U are right on the spot with thta one. ON the counter note we the carabook is quite good as is imo that MU is a thing of need . Hmm that Mordell was really good stats. Thou Tiarak might be hunted some more now after your post I do find it intresting that U have looted that many weps . Might wanna consider some more Tiarak for future hunts Ty for that intell. Btw anyone know a good spot for big Feran? Aparently now I need thoose . Best would be a mix spawn of big feran/halix
It's waves just as always. Yesterday I first lost over 1.5k in 4 hours with incredibly bad return of 40% and below, then earned them back in the next 3 hours . Persistence is the key.
Acctualy I know a few mixed custom low level spawns of this so hence I figured I ask if anyone know the bigger one
Feran prowler/stalker are just north of taipan... just walk north from the tp... keep going and you will find the yuka spawn.
Did some testing on Tiarak today for the fun of it a whopping 165 ped loot to cover 250 ped ammo out . Seems I still have some way to go to cover thoose . Kinda fun thou acctualy could die from something even without crit . Thoose stalkers are mean boys . No guns so far but only a few hundred dead so should have filled up the loot for someone atleast . Owell al in al it is what it is live to learn I guess Halix mini seems more like my cup of tea atm . thx for al the help guys the frustration atm is getting the better of me so untill I get some cool il stay small
Actually need to still post my last run on big tiarak ... was another big loss tho lol. I did loot a law202 desert but tt far less then what i put in. Ive actually never come out ahead with these guys but mu is good and their fun so I continue. Used the raw404+a104 to bring them into range for my asi20 desert+beast and most of the time they are less then 1/2 hp by the time they get to me They are tough on armor when I need to start fapping on stalkers to stay alive.
Ok right now Zume I wanna marry you . Been killing a crapload of Halix recently going all in with the new TT wepons. Today it payd off . 400 ped HoF with a gyro fap 2 smuggler YaY. Overpriced smuggler fap anyone?
Oh damn you.. there were only oils in my 850 ped stalker.. and ive done over 700 of stage 5.. but gz soooo much.. And sorry.. I'm taken already..
Mearly a minor setback . Still happy hwoever . Going mix feran / halix swtiching between guns and rifle kinda makes these guys fun after awhile. Kinda been ignoring loot al in al before the final counting which makes it even more fun and less frustrating In the long run it was a great way of killing frustration doing this thou
