Let the Arkoin Auction begin!

Outbid your competitors and you could be trading Arkoins for a variety of virtual and real life items!


As we announced in this thread, due to some delays with Arkoin brokers, we are auctioning off a collection of virtual and real life items.

We're pleased to announce that the first eight (8) of these auctions are now beginning!

RULES
​

Arkadia Studios has taken care to make sure these auctions will be as fair as possible to all. However, we welcome colonist feedback and suggestions on how it might be improved or run in a different way. We therefore reserve the right to make improvements during the auction as we see fit.

1. A variety of items, both real-life and virtual, will be periodically auctioned during the Arkadia Gold Rush 2012.
2. The auctions will occur entirely here, in Planet Arkadia Forum, and not in the in-game auction system.
3. Bids will only be accepted in Arkoins.
4. Bids of any items other than Arkoins (eg PED) will be deemed invalid.
5. For each item being auctioned:
   • The item will feature in a new auction thread of its own
   • That auction will be announced in this thread, with a link
   • The auction will begin when it is listed
   • There will be no buyout bid amount
   • For the first three (3) weeks after the relevant auction thread is published, the auction will remain open
   • After the first three weeks, the auction will then end when a bid remains the top bid for a period of 72 hrs
   • Such a 72 hr period will be taken to have begun no earlier than three (3) weeks after the auction thread is published
   • The winner is required to contact Cyrus | Arkadia to arrange for trade, collection or shipping of the auction item, within one week of the end of the auction.
   • If the winner of the auction fails to collect their award within the aforementioned one week of the end of the auction, the item will be awarded to the next highest bidder.
6. The potential issue has been raised that somebody could bid a million bajillion Arkoins that they don't have, with the plan of winning the auction, not claiming their prize, and having the prize go to their friend, the second bidder with a very small bid.
   • This is a great point, and we appreciate it having been raised.
   • Arkadia Studios will at its discretion check that interesting bids are backed by an actual Arkoin balance.
   • Arkadia Studios will announce a bid to be invalid on such grounds if deemed necessary.
   • Please note, "million bajillion" is not a real number, though legitimate attempts to bid this high are of course encouraged.
7. To avoid potential confusion, it would be most helpful if all bidders could ensure that their full in-game avatar name is visible either in their account details to the left of their post, or by stating it in the actual bid post.
8. Prizes will be sent after the end of Gold Rush 2012 (estimated beginning of November).

I thought there would be monitor to bid, I really need a new one. but 3 weeks seems like I don't have a chance to bid might already be in Army.. Good luck to rest of bidders

 

Does it mean that arkoin brokers will not be functional next few weeks?

 

Considering 3 weeks is quite some time .... add to that the winning bid must stand for 72 hrs unchallenged...

- what about foul bidding ? how will you treat that ? by re-starting auction ??

- what about the brokers ? will they be functional whithin next 3-4 weeks or not ?

- what about arkoin drop rate ? are we to expect an increase ? Fair would be to let it untouched while auction is running altough I kinda observed different in my last 2 instance runs ...

I like bidding under clear circumstances ... that's why I ask the questions above
Personally I consider 3 weeks is WAY too MUCH and with no control of foul bidding (as in bidding 1 mil arkoins for something while you do not have that in inventory) this auction is kinda fishy ... no hard feelings, just imho

yea i think this is only going to make the arkoin situation worse not better as ppl will be hording them for another 3 weeks

 

This is great news!! But I think the 3 weeks and 72hrs highest bid are quite long. Maybe reduce it to 10 days or 2 weeks max? and 24hrs for highest bid, like the auc?
Also, what will be done for someone who bid more than what they have? eg. Avatar X bid on 5 things but could only afford 3 items.. so the next person in line get the item?

What happens if a winning bidder turns out not to have enough Arkoins, or decides not to pay up for some reason?

 

If top bid fail to give the amount of arkoins he/she bid then the next highest bidder would win.

So if I bid 500 Arkoins, then my friend bids 800000 Arkoins, wins the auction but doesn't pay up, I will win the auction for 500 Arkoins. Doesn't seem very fair.

Especially given the fluctuating markup on Arkoins, I predict controversy.

 

Hmmm that's a smart technique lol, maybe add another rule that people need to bid along with the picture to prove at least he/she has this amount of Arkoin for now?

 

I hope A-Team can auction some Hat and shirts with a buyout first, so Cyrus can TT some of the Arkoins when people buyout it. Maybe it can silently improve the situation that hunters can barely loot arkoins in instance?

 

Someone spoke of Acoins dropping again? If not then some quick auktions would be really needed to get us flooded up abit again . Other then that its really good to c this kicking off wtg Ateam

 

ah well I tried bidding with my meager 1200 arkoins, all I got after over 20 instances

If someone wants to buy them let me know pretty sure there is no way I'll win any bids with such a low amount or get anything from a auction broker with them anytime soon.

 

I can confirm from personal experience that arkoins are dropping, sometimes in significant quantities.

 

i second this. had good drops last days.

 

Ya but I never seem to get any so not even going to try until instance are all fixed and brokers are working. I really do like instances but doing them for the coins has been a miserable failure for me and not worth my time and PED. I'll still do them for fun once in awhile but that's about it, I've given up on all this coin nonsense.

 

Back to instances again it is finaly then . Anyone selling keys??? Mkay
