Rookie Terramaster Competition (Week 1 of 15)

Week 1 - Enmatter Challenge

Competition starts at 0000MA 9/16/2012
Competition ends at 2359MA 9/22/2012


Rules:

- Highest 3 claim size screenshots win prizes
- If more then one person has the same claim size first to post gets highest placement, second post get 2nd highest placement, etc, so post as soon as possible
- A single avatar can only hold one winning placement at a time, as to not be able to win more then one prize per week
- Rookie Terramaster must be equiped in screenshot, it is the only mining tool allowed in this competition
- Finder data must be clearly visible with claim size listed (unknown size for claim data does not count in this contest)
- Resource type in finders data must be of "Enmatter" type to count for this weeks competition
- Timestamp must be displayed in chat window (hit the U button to get the time)
- All resources must be mined on Planet Arkadia (determined by Planet Name on Radar)
- To restrict no use of Amps any submitted claim must also show the right click data of the Rookie Terramaster in inventory and show that no attachment was added.
- No limit to number of submissions
- Only alterations allowed in screenshot will be editing out coordinate data PED Card Balance and private chat information
- I reserve the right to disqualify any screenshot I deem incorrect

HERE are some guides on how to upload images.

End of 15 week drawing details:

- Items donated by sponsors will be given out in a drawing at the end of the 15 weeks of competition.
- For each week an avatar participates in the event with a valid screenshot they will receive 1 entry into the drawing, one ticket max per avatar per week.
- Each ticket can only win once during the drawing so multiple tickets will be required for chance to win multiple items.
- Each ticket will be randomly assigned a number and the sponsors of the item's will select numbers randomly or however they wish for each item they donated. Sponsors will not know who is assigned to which number.
- Before I have sponsors select winning ticket numbers I will send the list of names and numbers to a separate person for validation so there is no way I can alter the drawing information. Hoping someone form the A-Team can take a few seconds to do validation.
- Sponsors will post their number selection to the items at the end of the 15th week competition. I will then announce the winners names and the validation judge will validate the data. At which time prizes will be available for pickup.
NOTE: Drawings will only be for donated items, any additional donated PED for this event will be applied to the remainder of the events main prize pool, the competition will only last 15 weeks maximum.

2nd Place: 10 PED
3rd Place: 5 PED

Details:

To compliment Sam's Carabok Hunting Competition, I decided a form of mining competition that uses only the Rookie Terramaster. It will be done using the same premise and prize sizes as his contest so competition will be easy to participate in and follow. Each week the contest will target a specific type of mined resource. Will start with Enmatter for week 1, followed by Ore for week 2, then Treasure for week 3. This will repeat 5 times for a total of 15 weeks of competitions.

I know that most miners like to mine multiple resources at once but having the claim information in the finders data window ensures that the Rookie Terramaster was used to find the claim.
NOTE: Ore overrides enmatter and treasure, enmatter overrides Treasure in the finders display data. So if mining for multiple resources keep in mind during Ore week you can do all 3 types without an issue, during enmatter week only do enmatter and treasure, and during treasure week only do treasure.

Current leader board will be in 2nd post of this thread. Leaderboard will contain the name of person, size of claim, and post number where screenshot of claim can be located.

I am not allowing unknowns in this contest sorry if it is inconvenience.

 

We need an extra rule and it's a bit of a complication but necessary... Here's why... I got this on my first claim: View attachment 5008


How? I slapped on a lvl 5 amp.

Obviously, the purpose of this competition isn't to see who can amp, so... one more rule should be that you need to show your inventory showing 1) the little "equipped" hand on the rookie terramaster, and 2) the right click menu on the tool NOT showing the words "Detach Attachments". As so:

A little more complicated, but I think that's the only way to keep it fair and protect against people who are crazy enough to amp the rookie terramaster!

Hmm never considered anyone would be so desperate to amp a Rookie Terramaster to win 15 PED.

I'll work on something to these effects to make it more fair for all. Also will add a statement that a person can only be in one placement so they can't win 2 or all 3 of the prizes in a week.

 

Ammended some new rules to make competition more fair. Sorry if it makes the event more of an inconvenience but it seems to be necessary to add two new additions to the rules.

Placed an example image at end of first post, I also point out what is required for a valid screenshot and what parts of a screenshot can be edited out to protect private chat and PED card information or not share details of secret mining locations. Editing this data out is completely optional.


Hope everyone agrees with the changes and the competition runs smoothly.

I'm not on Ark atm, but I love the rookie finder. I've globalled twice in Hell with it (unamped) and had 2 XII finds on Ark with it before (also unamped) so it can be done!

Not to take this too far off topic, but I don't think it's worth it to tier a rookie finder.

 

Yes I tiered it up to tier 1. I wouldnt recommend it either - very expensive and the enhancers dont do enough to warrant the cost. Didnt have enhancers on it for the good loots I had anyway.

I mine way less than most miners, so no, I didnt drop a "lot" of probes for those results.
