yes just looted 3 vases and 2 paintings today. While i really like them, i think drop rate is bugged the other way around this update
In my opinion the special events (like we have right now) should contain treasure items to create, includingthe golden key. that would make a market for somethign that is already in game. also give you a reason to store some stuff for upcoming events.
I am beginning to question the wisdom of treasure hunting, too. At the moment I have around 700-800 PED worth of treasure loot sitting around (both types of amber, bronze alloy, flint axe and arrow heads, fossil ammonite) which are all TT food. I'm hanging on to them at the moment in the hope that there is going to be a use for all this stuff before too long. Has anyone any idea when most of the treasure items are going to become useful, presumably with new BPs? Could the team give us some clues, please?
If there is no significant demand, there is no need to mine and supply these treasures. In mining, if you find Lyst while mining Narc, you still have some markup left. In Treasure Hunting, if you find Amber, Bronze or any other TT food, your markup is zero. That means using bigger amps to crank out more volume is too risky. If you get payback on arrow heads instead of Khorum your amp markup is evaporated. The only way to keep the Treasure hunting profession afloat is when all the finds are sell-able. Markup can vary but non-zero is essential. Otherwise TH is a niche that will never generate meaningful revenue instead of Arkadia's key Differentiator.
Over the past 2 weeks, I've been getting about 130% average MU on treasure hunting, after paying 111% for lvl 5 amps. So it was quite doable with khorum and songkra so high. Of course, you need to know where to look. With treasure supply increasing due to lack of Arkoin NPC brokers, you're right, amping treasure hunting isn't as profitable as it was the last two weeks. I commented about clothing BPs because you assumed the other treasures were not useful. They are useful, but you're right. They just do not have enough demand. Unamped mining should still be profitable or at least break even if you target the treasures with MU, and if you have enough skills to get under the fossil teeth.
Finding good locations for all ores/enmatters/treasures has become a lot easier thanks to Starfinder and EntropiaLife.com. The new mapping tools are awesome to see latest, 1 month old I believe, data for locations of tracked logs.
Really, take a look at the tracker stats of me and my socmates and think again before insinuating I don't know where to look. Project -X- has been supplying over half of the Plate Alloy auction entries in the first week of Instances release, and selling way more outside of auction. I challenge you to take me to a field of your choice, drop a string of 50 probes and show me >75% the same type of finds (type, not TT value of the loot). You don't have to show me your Khorum fields, any TT food treasure will do. If you can do that I bow for your mapping skills. If you can't, you proved that going in with big amps (level 5 is not big btw) is a sure way to loose peds in the long run. On the short term, anything can happen but it's the gamble MA always says they don't facilitate but they love to see players make.
I never said >75%. However, you can easily find that if you mine shallow in the desert. As you know, if you have been treasure hunting widely, some fields will be 2/3 khorum one day and the next, 2/3 brass, and that's with more than 50 drops. That's MA's balancing managers at work. And no, I'm not sharing where my favorite fields are, nice try. Too many good spots are already overmined.
You may have missed my point in the effort to prove yours. Mine was that treasure hunting has been quite profitable the last couple of weeks. If you haven't been profiting, then you need to take a look and find the reasons why.
