This thread is about maps. Hi i see now we have a desert gun and a artic gun does that mean we have desert dusty ruines locations on map and arctic locations with snow and ice , blizzards Im just wondering thats all its not a wish list post or anything its just a question about those 2 guns and the map to find out wether thay are related to the map would be cool if it was
You mean like the desert gun can only be used -effectively- in desert areas and the arctic gun only in icey ones? While this would give more variety to newcomers in terms of "not to have the best UL gun" in the game to compete, I doubt that the systems provided by MA offer such. Maybe we can expect in the future somewhat like certain mobs being more vulnerable to a certain kind of damage, but I doubt that because it would require more careful planning in mobs and weapon layouts. The route of MA is somewhat clear, gambling mobs, huge hp with less payouts for the general hunter, but occasionally big ones for one lucky, so the gambling type of player is attracted. So only thing they have to look for is the hp of the mob and what loot he gives out. They will never be able to build complex systems that would consider ammotypes, defense capabilities, damage types, etc. in a hunting / combat scenario.
I have to agree with Cani. I dont believe that we will see the day where the weapon has to meet the terrain. What we do see now is different armour for different mobs. I think that's as far as MA will progress. I personally dont think it would be wise to have to carry several different guns and armour and ammo just to match the terrain
Unless some Desert, Arctic, or Water world comes out and gear necessary to met certain conditions are required to traverse or even to survive in the given terrain. Maybe if temperature is ever created.
Like your idea consider it as a small zone like the rig on calypso or as big as the fort zone south of ashi tp on calypso. The guns dont have to match the terrain or not work in a terrain but could have a abillty to work with the terrain to give you more accurancy or improved sight and view in arctic or water in the terrain etc : water , arctic , desert. The guns could still work in normal terrain consider it has design and animation not so much MA coding and such im kinda talking and putting this idea in design area The gun names must have arctic and desert for a reason the aliens could have lived in icy conditions and desert and a mixture of terrain. is it getting cold or is it just me
Sry but that is not what I meant by that suggestion / comment. Its not a video game..terrain doesn't give bonuses to weapons.. Terrain would negatively effect every other weapon except those designed to withstand those elements. Such as certain weapons being weaker or not working underwater.. or having heat or freezing issues with a gun causing it to backfire or jam in a desert or snow situation.. deeper water should automatically have worse sighting for every weapon. Something that might be cool to have but would probably be hell to code for a planet that doesn't have a specific need for it. lol and Camouflaging a gun shouldn't mean it works better in that terrain unless its modded for a reason. It just looks awesome and if the AI for smarter mobs is working right a camouflaged weapon should technically have a lower aggro than a non-camo'd weapon.
hmm i think i just got my self confused with this map thing im talking about:huh: Ok i think my suggestion was about bonus or abilites in terrain with guns i can see that bit Ok the guns and terrain could have no abilities or camo or improvements. but i might finish it like this the artic gun could have been found left from the aliens a rare artifact that was around at the ice age when the aliens first came to planet that could be considered treasure or their actualy was a artic area and it melted due to the technology the aliens had and the artic gun was lost in ther melting in lab and arkadians discovered it while out on a mission maybe thats why we have deserts know and green grass , trees Ok how does this sound. But i think we all know their will not be artic weather or any thing fancy conditions on arkadia atleast not for now or pre launch basicly the reason for the thread is about figuring out the map conditions and where the guns origin is from + with the names on them its kinda specualtion before release like a teaser
I think OP mean: Is there going to be a desert and a "north pole"-ish area on Arkadia, because the guns looks like they were made for areas like that(No extra bonus or w/e on the guns, just the pure design and looks..) Personally I think there will be a Snowy place and a Desert-y place =)
Now that we have got vehicles > boats, to be more precise... I really wish we could have submarines on Arcadia I've always loved the scenery underwater and if been able to explore it with a submarine, would be.... just.... Torpedo... radar blinking of approaching vessels... Just a thought. -Hyssch-
maybe the desert gun is just designed best for mobs that live in the deasert, and other guns for other areas like that.
I am sure, that this is only a visual difference. I understand that we (the long term players) would love to see more complexity... but for every new gamers a complexity like this would be a total fun killer. Already it takes long to explain to noobs the skilling, weapon and armor system... not talking about amps, tiers etc. Adding terrain as another factor will make it impossible for beginners to understand anything.
Just to clear up some speculation - each weapon has a base model ie Herman Ark-10. It then has some variants which offer a benefit over the base model. So you can choose to use a version that is slightly faster, or longer range or more powerful. There is certainly no problem using a Desert version in the jungle, or an arctic version in the desert. The most recent video Cyrus made http://www.youtube.com/user/planetarkadia shared some of the detail that is provided with the weapons which we believe will make life easier for new players in particular to identify a logical progression.
No problem at all. For those that haven't tried it I use Rockmelt as my main browser - it has a side bar that shows new threads on the forum which makes it quite easy to monitor. Rockmelt isn't great for everything (I still use Chrome, IE and Firefox depending on what I want them for) but Rockmelt is great for monitoring any social media.
