A new mega corporation for the Entropia storyline? Alienware Subsidiaries brought along several high tech construction nodes with the Arkadian drop fleet. Alienware's back story would include its cutting edge ability to assimilate new Alien hardware and equipment. Explanation for Alienware drops could be that one of the tech nodes crashed off radar and the equipment was looted, and scattered to the winds during the drop to planet side. I actually thought of a little storyline last night at work for several hours having to deal with this event but I can't remember it right now. LoL Interested? Yes? No?
pleas explain 3)what is a mega corp. 2)what it would be doing iname 1 ) how it would benifit ME ! thats all that matters in the bottom line to a player
3.A couple of Corporations in Project Entropia http://unionova.eu/eu/history/corporations/ Project Entropia Storyline http://unionova.eu/eu/history/storyline/full.php 2.Currently Corporations are just a part of the storyline. In the future they might have quests associated with them if they ever get past the storyline part and maybe even further past that they might incorporate corporations as larger societies with more functions. If you are going to be dropping items like Alienware laptops and hardware it might be a good idea to have some storyline to go with it. This would be that storyline. 1.Bottom line, Alienware is already in-game according to our Community Manager Cyrus. Why not incorporate the drops in game as part of the storyline. How it helps everyone: -More story and loot for players. -More advertisement for Alienware. -Positive customer and business-to-business relations for Arkadia and Entropia Universe.
So,(cough), this is all a plan to get more Aleinware into the game besides the few pieces already mentioned right? lol If its a game corp, then the drops would be around more...somehow I think the game devs will see through this right away, so my little mention of it here is well after the fact.hehehe
...The drops are already around and Arkadian Staff (Can't remember where the post is) already mentioned some form of possible future relationship with Alienware advertisement. This is just a way of incorporating it into the game. Even a short term advertisement of say three or six monthes and any form of items being placed into the game should have some storyline behind it. Incorporating an actual Alienware corporation in the storyline would be considered a long-term advertisement; Any drops associated with Alienware product would be considered short term advertising (usually product / product line specific.) Just my thoughts, anyways...
Hi Telgrad, This was certainly considered, but at this stage there won't be any Alienware corporation on Arkadia as it was not part of the agreement with Alienware.
Someone has a brown nose. >.> Just kidding. I'm glad we've finally gotten an answer on this. Perhaps we should wait until release before we dig into these types of things.
Well after about 7 years of "answers" from all the other parties involved with EU it amazes me how easy it is to actually give strait forward answers, even if it is a simple NO. After 7 years I was beginning to think that EU developers were incapable of giving honest, straightforward answers without bullshitting around stuff or lying. So yes I'll let the Arkadia people know that once in a while as a remainder to keep doing what they do and not fall back to the 'regular' EU developer mentality.
As far as the poll goes I said no with an explanation..we're the first colonists there on an alien world with few if any resources. Any major corporation of any size is out of the question until maybe the second or third wave of colonization.Think three years from now.
Yep exactly. This is an untamed world. I could see corporations coming over from Earth after the Oratan are under control, but right now it wouldn't really make sense in the storyline.
Tell that to the arms dealers in nearly every war on Earth. Untamed or not the planet would invite the eye of those looking for new resources, those looking for new technology, and all of those Corporations seeking to gain an edge over their competitors. though it understandable from Krm398 point of view of limit resources per wave of colonization
clearification Totally understand what your saying, but even weapons dealers who do tend to go where few have gone, want one thing, profits. I'd guess they have a few spys on the first wave, so they'll find out sooner rather than later, wither there's anything worth fighting over there. But the corporate offices is what I meant, they wont spend millions setting up a real corporation on the planet until they're sure they can do it without losing it all in some raid. They'll have friends in the military and spys and even a few people scouting for them right away, but any REAL large investment will probably wait until things are more safe. That doesn't mean they wont spy, and steal everything they can with the limited people they have there, but not setting up huge buildings and corporate headquarters right away is what I was saying.
Hi, I'm quite happy by the Alienware move, IMHO for an RCE like this it's one of the best choices to utilize the advertising money of the RL company's to get additional income, or additional loot to distribute. And cheap advertising itself, maybe having a DvD in the partners product packages? MA tried with Massive Inc., and, as we know, both miserably failed. Guess it just was the wrong partners, both of them. Massive was just not interested enough in a small cliche like MA to actually do some work, MA as megalomaniac as usual couldn't hire a smaller, smarter company - No, it had to be this big MS subsidiary ... I have no idea how Arkadia plans to handle this. Would be interesting to read about ;-) One thing to consider, and this is why I voted "Yes but don't include existing companies": I don't want to see company's like McDonalds, Dell, Budweiser, Apple, Pampers etc. on the planet. Alienware might fit in the context (from the name), but would it be allowed to them to act as an in-game entity there'd be no way to keep out the others. So I think there'd be need for a way to give them the desired publicity without having Ronald McD standing around as a quest giver ("bring me 100 armax sides"), or having Pampers as a in game trade mark for water-proof thigh guards. The knowledge to be able to loot stuff sponsored by a certain RL company would be nice already, but there could be more: A line attached to the global message: "Xandra killed a young Gibnip and received loot worth 51 PED. This loot included a nice item sponsored by ACME Inc.!" . Frequent, short messages on the Ad Screens (in case these still exist) about the "Sponsor of the week" maybe? . "Sponsor terminals" where we could inform ourselves about current actions, maybe watching videos praising the company, containing hidden hints where to loot the stuff ... In any way such RL company's should not be part of our virtual world, IMHO. This would be something I'd not like. I'm all for utilizing the many, many $$$ that are spent day for day for advertising, getting a small share of it could greatly benefit any game company, but it's a walk on the knives blade, and should be handled with utmost delicacy. Have a good time!
We can always do with a KFG. Kalypso Fried Gibnib Or instead of Church's...What is the name of a lootius temple. LoL maybe even Lootius' Or wait what Budweiser... ...Beer and Wine companies of any kind are fine if they can just get some Alcohol in the game lol. Yes, Corporately sponsored alcoholic beverages. hehehe Or Dell and Apple...some futurist names with a very similar logo and they could both be futuristic tech companies. Pampers... hmm for when you **** yourself for the first time on Arkadia. We also make water proof underclothing. McDonald... I'd laugh at searching the ruins of Arkadia and find a big stone yellow M buried in the ground.
