So , the Alienware in the loot.....

    Can someone please explain how exactly Alienware in the loot is being handled, since MA in in charge of loots on all the planets?

    First thing to be clear on is that MA are in charge of the distribution of loots, not the creation of the items. For example, if we create a gun, then we advise MA that the gun is for hunting loot and then MA set what it loots from and at what frequency. Hence apart from knowing that a gun can be looted, the Planet Partner has no more information as to where it can be looted.

    In the example of the Alienware products, that is a promotion between Planet Arkadia and Alienware. So we provide MA with either a 3D model or a certificate and request that it be placed randomly as loot across all professions in the quantity we specify. Full details of the event will be made public here on Arkadia Forum prior to the launch of Planet Arkadia.

    To clear some other speculation up - no where did we announce that this is a one off promotion with Alienware - our relationship with Alienware is very good and I can say it is likely you will see similar promotions to support new product releases from Alienware. We are very proud to be associated with the world's leading game specific PC brand.

    We are also working on other promotions in the future with other well known brands.

    Cool. Is this Alienware thing going to be an "Event" like the SGA or like a random loot?

    Also if I remember correctly wasn't there an incident on Calypso where some advertised items were supposed to loot but didn't until like an hour before the event ended, or even after it was over then they all dropped at once..... something like that? Frankly my confidence is shaky at best that MA can handle the distribution properly. I base this on six years of experience with Mindark, don't mean to be negative, just saying........

    It is a launch event, full details will be provided closer to launch. But simply, participants who get involved in any of the 3 main professions of Entropia (hunting, mining or crafting) on Arkadia will have the chance to loot Alienware gear.

It's simply awesome to have straight forward answers from the top, but this is what we've had from the beginning, and all I can say is ... there's no substitute for professionalism. :)

    Thanks for those informations.

    It is kind of refreshing to see someone share interesting information about what has been always put in the "it is dynamic" answer of MA in the past where a regular person with two braincells was always like "hell, how is it going to hurt if they reveal that information."

    Personally I don't like though that MA has the control about the distribution, I still don't like the fact that certain SGA stuff was looted by the very same people that looted the normal version, just put a finger to the weak spot of this concept. And if you see certain avatars just hunt two hours at the weekend and hit the upper hoflist it will never remove the bloody stain of MA supporting certain avatars. sorry for the rant, but after 4,5years fucked up loot pool myths one is vulnerable to such things.

    I predict that one lappy is going to a newcomer and one is going to the usual suspects of supported loot.

    There has been similar events on Calypso as well. You could wins video cards - you looted an item that said its a RL item. After a certain fixed date those video cards were shipped to the person who was holding it at the time. It also meant people could trade them away for ped.

    David, thanks for being amazing CEO and 'lowering yourself' to communicate with users. And communicating in very well manner!

    Like others, I have negative experience from toxic relationship with MA. I always expect the worst possibility from them. [Sounds like I need professional help with that ;)]
    I remember somebody had two unlimited mining amps in same loot window during SGA. That's only one of many good examples how bad they distribute loot.

    Like others... I trust and respect Planet Arkadia. MA... Not so much. I hope this distribution goes much more smoothly than previous attempts. It would be really bad if one person got both laptops in one loot and I can sooo see that happening with MA.

    It would be nice if they (MA) put a mechanism in place like most contests have where you can only win one prize in the contest, and/or you can't win again for a certain time period. That could avoid a lot of potential anger from the community.
