Howdy Arkadians and potential newbies! I've got another video up and I decided to discuss the current state of MMO's and a bit more on RCE and the recent purchase of $2.5 Million worth of Calyspo Land Deeds. Enjoy!
Good video but u suck at mining jk You forget to mention becouse its RCE you are not dominated by kids that plays 24/7 like in subscription based MMOs.
are youusing little big mining logger for mining? it's very handy i thought you mentioned you know about it in another vid but wanted to make sure you knew about it.
Indeed I am. However using FRAPS with EU in windowed mode while LBML is running is, well...buggy. And I can't get the LBML map to display when EU is in full screen mode. So yea, during that mining run I wasn't using LBML. If you all have any suggestions on this they are welcome. Also it's a bit weird that EU can't run in 1920X1080 res in Windowed Mode. Is anyone able to do that? I have a high-end gaming rig.
Put your hands up and step away from the 105.. You seriously need to be using a Z1. Obviously you didnt read the post I left in last video. Where did you get your information about the US government stating that EU was not gambling? What tells you EU is NOT a pyramid scheme? Do not pyramid schemes use tiers for their people? EU does for sure. We do not have the same access to the same loot by anymeans. Its obviously not gambling here because gambling has set odds to win something. Here there is no odds of anything so you could ( and people have) dumped tons of money into here and gotten NOTHING back. Id just like to learn where your information you are getting is comming from becasue you are telling people things that have a rediculessly low chance of happening in your videos. Maybe next time do a comparrison of an MMO nerfing something where .. ohh maybe dps drops or loot tables change..To here when Ma nerfs stuff the money you have invested into stuff gets devalued at their will. No reasoning, no excuses, hell not even a post in the release notes in most cases. If you put these videos out to the public put out both sides or your credibility goes to shit and you become nothing more then just another fanboi.
lol tell us how you really feel. I totally disagree to most of what you say here, there are ways to increase your odds and play this game just like you play poker. the problem is people dont want to accept them because it lowers there expectation of getting the big hof. There is a reason i'm at 80k skills and i only solo hunt mobs under 1.5k hp it's because it's easyer to profit from. If i hunted scoria i'd have higher chance of loosing ped for sure. Higher chance of getting a 6 digit loot maybe but not of profiting. there is for sure odds and when you learn how to read them and play by them then you profit. i'm living proof of it. I'm not uber player but i do very well, and the new players i teach and follow my advice and dont jump ahead of themseves do very well also. I find most people who complain about loosing tons are jumping there own skills levels much like you mention about using the 105 and not a z1.
If your definition of pyramid schemes is "businesses or activities that have tiers based on money at hand" then bloody everything is a pyramid scheme. Don't just wikipedia words before you come to dazzling conclusions. Gambling isn't defined as "things that have set odds". Speaking of set odds, did you know one armed machines have them? You know, the ones that stand in virtually every casino? The ones that people can play for 2 hours or 2 months with the same deposit just based on luck? You know why he doesn't? Because noone enjoys listening to a thirty something guy moan about a semi unknown MMO. If you so desperately want to tell the world how awful EU is, just make your own videos and spew out whatever you want.
Hi, I might have missed it, but I don't find anything about "the US government stating that EU was not gambling" in your link. And tbh, I never heard of such: All that I know is the age old story of Legion trying to find out, here, and here. And this isn't more then the Swedish Authorities saying "We have no clue, so 'in dubio pro reo'": Would be nice to have a working link to prove your claim. Thank you. I'd not go this far as Trina, calling EU an pyramid scheme. There are important parts missing to qualify as such, IMHO. Even if the new Emissary program actually adds some of such marks, offering rewards for bringing new "customers". But I agree with Trina that ignoring existing problems, but praising the game using questionable claims doesn't do any good. And harms your credibility. Even more, when you're claiming things like: This isn't necessary. And it's not what will make you looking good. There's people out there that are in the game for very long, that have actual money in the game, and that are deeply concerned about their investment. People that love the game as much as you do, but that have learned, over the years, that MA has a very bad attitude when it comes to the treatment of its customers. And that have learned that only constant discussion in the forums, and constant pointing to weaknesses and failures keeps this game from going down the drain completely. The game isn't in a good shape at the moment, we're severely lacking population on some planets, we have Planet Partners that are heavily endangered. There is an urgent need for ground breaking changes, the game urgently needs to come back to a state where we keep new Colonists once they have been attracted. No songs of blue skies, flowers and humming bees will achieve this goal. Anybody coming to this game, attracted by such, will quite fast realize that he has been fooled. And will leave in anger, telling all his friends what a *** this is. This is not what we need. What we need is constant pressure on MA, constructive critics, participants that fight for their rights. What we need are changes in the game mechanics that make the game as appealing as it was once, more player retention, more economy, more safety for our investments. And the absolutely last thing we'd need is people telling other people to leave the game. Have a good time! PS: Your mining is strange. I only checked the first part of your video (see PPS below), but this way you're bound to fail. Stop flying and burning fuel unnecessarily, and get yourself a real finder. You might keep your 105 for low-depth searches, but don't use it if you want to find stuff with good MU ... PPS: I tried to watch your video. Unfortunately I'm not a native English speaker, and I did understand absolutely nothing of your speech. It's not that I couldn't watch English movies, or news usually - maybe next time put aside your bubblegum before recording?
My definition of pyramid scheme is more regarding the segregation of the upper legels with all the privleges in this case.. As for gmbling I grew up 11 miles west of Atlantic city..I worked for my father who rebuilt all of the roads in AC as it developed. My uncle is a machinist who's company is certified by the Casino control commission to make the shafts for the slots and the roulette wheels and I used to work in Harrahs Casino the so yes I am quite familiar with gambling and what it is. The comparrioson was that gambling has posted odds to win something EU has no such regulation therefore can not be considered a casino although it does easily fall into the catagory of gambling. And lastly one of the biggest factors biting this game in the ass is the illusion by all the false advertising that has gone on over the years regarding EU which by the way is far from unknown and has nearly as bad a rep in the gaming world as Al Quieda does in the civilized world. My statement was meant to not make Mo look like he was blowing smoke and flowers up peoples asses later when they come to EU on his reccomendation and lose their asses. I merely suggested he shows the complete picture of EU and not just the fanboi propaganda that has been spewed for years by others who had the same enthusiam he does currently before it gets shattered over time like the rest of us who have played for more then 5 minutes have. Read the post not just the words before you pull a NightHawk please and thank you.
Xandra, your reply is strange at best. To paraphrase: "Playerbase is dwindling. We need to make sure people want to stay. We should make sure we whine as loudly as possible. We should in no way give people the impression that life can be good on Calypso." What then follows is the most hilarious youtube'ish comment I've read in quite a while. Breaking even, with a F-105, despite flying around in a VTOL, is in no way impossible. I don't however see the point to give such a snarky remark at all. Then you comment on UncleMo's english, which is in no way bad. Really, get a grip. It's like you're whining just for the sake of whining. But idk, maybe MA makes everything better then? It worked with hangars and taming right? Just goes to show then that being a plumber doesn't make for a great hydraulics consultant. Feel free to post any legitimate source that states that gambling per defintion requires clearly visible odds. What Unclemo said: "Hey guys I've been playing a while and I use this excel sheet. Entropia is hard, but if you try really hard you can maybe get a ped or two profit." What you interpreteted it as: "If you guys come to entropia you'll make money like NEVERDIE in no time. Just go out and shoot something and you'll have enough to pay your rent." At least that what it seems like judging by how starking mad you are over someone not just bitching over entropia on the internet. Good you got that out of your system. Could you please return to behaving like a civilised being now?
Guys, I'm enjoying reading the very valid points and opinions you all have, but please take your collective foot off the throttle a bit and keep it civil. Leave the name-calling and innuendo for other forums, I don't want to have to close the thread. We have a very diverse cross-section of professional people here with a wealth of experience and knowledge and I think its a shame to let all that validity get snowed under by the incivility that is coming with it. Thanks in advance. P.S - UncleMo thanks for the video, I love your enthusiasm and look forward to seeing what you come up with next. If you filter out all the obvious hostility in some of these posts there is some very valuable advise, knowledge and opinions here that you may want to take note of.
Hi, at first: Never mind. Should my reply have been hurting, I apologize, too. It was not intended, I was careful not to hurt, but sometimes things go wrong. No problem with your post. Have fun! Second: Feel free to twist my words to your desire. But everybody that has read my post will have recognized that I'm not talking of whining or speaking ill of EU. I talked of: Just to point again to some of my statements, and to provide the link you forgot. I'm very sure there is no whining in it, and no badmouthing. There is critics in it, some of it might be a bit harsh. You'll find this at a lot of the older players, feel free to enjoy Etopia's posts, for instance ;-) Seems it's the way MA's politics educates us ... I strongly oppose the method to be quiet about all problems, to praise a dull patch of mud as a flowery meadow *1). This is counterproductive IMHO, and not doing any good: Read this again, please. It's central in my argumentation. Don't lie to people interested, they'll hate the game even more when they leave disillusioned: Tell them that they cannot expect to win anything for a very long time, worth more then a few pennies, only with a minuscule chance, a lot lower then in any lottery. Tell them that they'll need to pay by far more compared to any other MMO, to get things going. For years. Tell them that they'll face the most stupid grind of all known MMO's to skill up, and that they have no chance at all to ever reach the "end game" without bleeding thousands of dollars. Tell them that nearly all of their deposited money is used to feed some old time players. That got their Uber skills in ways not available anymore, that have Uber gear that doesn't drop nearly anymore. Tell them that it needs a lot of database/ spreadsheet work, after a few years of skilling, to reach a point where you don't need to deposit every month anymore. And then, tell them that there is a tiny chance to be lucky and win a huge sum during suffering this madness. Don't lie to them, be honest. Else you'll only create even more negative multipliers among the gamers & potential participants. There's gazillions of 'em out there already, we really don't need even more! And, you'd encourage MA to tighten the thumbscrews even more. I know, comparisons are usually bad, but let me try one anyways: If you have some people working for you, you're teched to find out their limit, to ensure the best possible profit of their labor. You slowly add more work to their duty, (and you try to reduce the salary,) until they start complaining. When the complaints are loud enough, you step back a little. You tell them a nice story then, about the pressing competition, about the bad economics, about your pain to be forced to act like this. And about how much you love them, how important they are, and that you, because of this, will reduce the cruelties you did to them, a tiny little bit. Even if you'll need to sell your cat now, because you cannot afford the costs of it's food anymore. (You keep your Ferrari, for sure ...) They will love you for this. They will praise you for actually hearing to their complaints, and for stepping back a bit. And they will not realize that they now have more work to do, for less salary, compared to before. This process is bound to be repeated every other time, to ensure your maximum profit. Everybody in the game for long enough will realize the parallels to MA's politics. And will realize what to do. Young players, with not much experience with MA, might regard this as "strange at best". Well, they'll learn one day, maybe. I didn't say that it's impossible to break even sometimes this way, I said that "you're bound to fail" in the long run. Hopping around in a VTOL is needlessly burning PED's, clearly - you'll not be any faster, you just make it more difficult to keep equal distances for your drops. You're burning fuel and VTOL decay with no benefit. And the 105 - well, this is kind of a religious dispute. The advantage of the 105 is that it is usable with sufficient results quite early, and that it is repairable. In case of a maxed Finder F-105 I'd still prefer a Finder F-212 (L), same maxed level, more depth, and lower decay. Or a Ziplex Z25 Seeker (L), a bit more decay, but quite superior depth. Once you have maxed the 212 or the Z25 there's things like Ziplex TK120 Seeker (L). Here starts the real mining, with about 12+ in your mining profession. Summary: IMHO the 105 is nice for: growing up newbie miners, if they can borrow one. The high MU as well as the short duration where it can be used makes it quite a bad choice else. The 21* series is cheaper to use, with more depth, where the Z25 offers even more depth for a little higher decay. Any finder in this skilling range will not be used for long, thus low TT (and thus reduced MU) (L) finders are the best choice. Especially as they have SIB, for faster skilling. Middle/ high class miners as a second finder. They sometimes need to find some of the basic resources, too. I'm currently mining with a nearly maxed TK120. I'd have use for a 105, for the rare cases when I need oil or lyst - the 120 nearly doesn't find such stuff anymore. Even if I'd prefer the more eco Finder F-104 for this. Remember, mining means hunting the MU. Most high MU ores/ enmatters are at quite high depths. Any advance in depth can be translated to higher MU in the result. If mining in an approbate area. This PS was meant as a friendly advice. In no way "snarky". I'm not the one thinking "their loss will be my profit" - all of my mining claims since several months are publicly available in the ET mapping tool, for instance. And if I give an advice in the forum (or in game), you can be very sure that I'm deeply certain, and that I have the knowledge and the experience making it valid. I don't talk of things I have no idea of. Excuse me, if you read what I've written you'd have realized that "I did understand absolutely nothing of [his] speech". I have a bit of experience with the spoken English language, quite often I'm communicating with people from all over the world, spoken. I'm able to watch movies in English, to hear the news in English (from selected channels ...), but I'm still not an native English speaker. I'm one of those people from all over the world that use the English language to communicate. For us "aliens" it's quite hard to understand if the recording isn't good, or if the speaker uses some kind of dialect. Or both. Some London/ US-American/ Australian slangs are notorious here - "2 get wut u rite" is quite easy, spoken it could be Chinese. And since the majority of the EU population isn't confident with your local slang, it might be a good idea to use some kind of "high English" when recording speach. Slowly spoken, without dialect/ slang, and accentuate. Your international audience will be happy, and your video will not be clicked away after 1:30. Yep, I wished you could. Some sentences in your post wasn't pleasant to read. Don't worry, we're way offtopic anyways. Have a good time! *1) This doesn't mean that I'd compare EU to a dull patch of mud, or to a flowery meadow! It's a great game, but it has certain shortcomings. Clearly recognizable due to the low number of participants, and the insane player retention rate. EU could be a really good, and by far more successful game would be some major problems solved. There was times when we had a multiple of todays players on line at any given time, there was times when we lost by far less try-outs this quickly, there was times when we happily deposited every month, because in exchange we got fun worth the buck. Decide yourself if advocating for a revival of the old virtues of PE/ EU would be worth it. PS: A great "Congratulation" to the moderation team, especially Larkin. Transparently moderating, noticing the makers of moderated posts, this is how it should be done, IMHO. Awesomeness!
