I want to ask the development team about what are the main weapon types on Arkadia because at this moment I feel this planet is more geared towards Plasma, Gauss with a bit of Laser and Blp on the side. Anyone else want to contribute what they know? I get this feeling from the guns specifications I can see from these pics: [Links Removed] I think this is a good idea in any case, because calypso doesn't offer much weaponry in the plasma division or gauss. If this is the case then that means your being different and can offer your customers more variety. Plus the designs look great . ~Mark~
Like the armour, this is work by the students at Feng Zhu Design School. These images are not representative of Arkadia. Feng Zhu is involved personally to design the theme of the planet. We do not use concept art done by his students. I hope you don't mind, but I'll remove those images from the forum as they don't belong to Planet Arkadia and don't represent the planet. Cheers, Dave
No problem at all David, I didnt know they werent concepts from your planet. Well the main question still stands what is the main weapon class is it plasma? My last sentence in my last post Just a thought... will weapons also have a dual feature? Like wielding 2 guns at once or dual function, single, burst or rapid fire?
There will be a range of weapons. The Herman ARK-10 is BLP. Cyrus might release a video of a laser gun very soon. Other types are in the works as well as melee weapons. Weapons will not have dual functions, at least not at launch - who knows what the future holds, but no plans for that now. I do like your idea of switching fire rate though, that would be cool, I'll look into it.
I guess ICBMs with MIRV warheads capable of placing a land area into nuclear winter; for a period of time. are out then. too bad.
You crack me up! I can see you as Captain Chiharo ... gutsy, feisty, risk taker, on target, get the job done and done well. She's one of my favorite characters in the storyline, along with Dr. Sundari Zhen, with whom I feel a kinship of sorts and can't wait to get busy. Gonna be interesting to follow your activity on Arkadia, so we definitely need to meet up. It's been far too long.
Fire rate selectors would be nice, right now all BLP's seem to fire either single fire for pistols or burst fire for rifles. Id be cool if we can have fully auto, firing many low-dmg rounds at a high rate of speed.
Not low-damage, it would still be the same bullet; I think lower the accuracy would make more sense. It would still be a lower DPS depending on the gun just in a different way.
Oops yea wrong direction lol, So then a slightly lower accuracy but an overall higher dps rate? because its going to be either that or the same accuracy with higher dps rate and more decay on the attachment. I would think it would depend largely on the gun you put it on... Changing a gun from burst first fire to single or lower shot rate is likely to increase accuracy and consistency of the hit rate while dealing damage at a slower rate while changing a gun from single shot to burst shot would lower accuracy slightly but is more likely to still pump more rounds into a mob therefore increasing the dps rate. So burst shot would be for high regen mobs while slower shot rates would be for slower regen mobs. -Unless on a team.
Personaly I think this is way too much balancing involved for MA to make guns in different modes soo would take them ages to work that out at their pace of working. Obviously there could be no mode which has an edge over the others because then everyone would use it anyway since we are in a RCE. However I like the idea of attatchments which decay that change the weapon to another fire mode with more DPS... kind of like another amp on it... that would be much cooler than the WoW tiering system. Then again we have that already anyway. As for the weapons on Arkadia I would say there is a slight focus on BLP but Laser and melee are there too in the vids.
me? oh no. you forget, I'm afraid of the stove. and, I'd be the one, when asked to place my key into the missile launch console, who'd sheepishly say that I forgot it on my armoire at home. certainly. will snacks be served?
say like the M16/M203 grenade launcher (BLP/Grenader) now i'm thinking that would be a neat little weapon
I was always upset when Calypso made the rocket launchers with the same, or LESS damage than some rifles...whats up with that? If you need a rocket launcher, you need power...right now...not a big projectile that does less damage than my Cold IR with an amp..lol. I make a small launcher for fun from scraps I get mining, but its just for emergency use or when I get a lot of free ammo, its less DPS than my gun. If your going up against an army like on Arkadia, then they would work well, but only if: 1) they did a lot of explosion/shrapnel damage in an area of maybe 10 meters. 2) reload time was just a little faster, my launcher needs what seems like 30 seconds or more to reload, then I'm getting beat on badly...so maybe longer range? 3) less models..more power..make the smallest launcher do maybe 75 points of damage and the highest 150..that will get some damage done when facing groups.
Ah yes, Nuclear artillery! when you absolutely, positively wan to kill everything in the area, except no substitute.
Why make a small damage launcher? Because you have a hard time skiling up if the lowest level weapon requires 10+ levels to use. As it is, Detpil Rv100 needs just 9 levels of hit to get started and it does 91 and is readily available, so I don't really see what you are complaining about. You don't want to give a level 3 rookie a gun that killd them if they shoot their foot, after all. If your launcher is taking 30 seconds to power up you are doing something very wrong - the longest it should take is 5 seconds, except for two highest end launchers. The support weapons lineup is very good. Lots of people would be ecstatic if some other weapons types had as good lineup.
