Item Loadout When Travelling to a New Planet?

    Hey everyone,

    I posted this on PCF, but I wanted to post here too since it's Arkadia that I'm moving to (obviously ;))! I was hoping to get some help from the forum to see suggestions of what I will need to survive there for an extended period of time.

    Now, I was wondering what everyone's opinions are with what I should buy next to prepare. Keep in mind I don't have a large PED card to work with, so maybe rank your suggestions in order of importance.

    All I want to do is have some fun on Arkadia. Hunting and mining low to medium scale will be what I do mainly.

    I'm split 50/50 atm between taking a very basic load for a few types of hunting and basic mining and just taking everything.

    My only reason for maybe not taking everything is that unloading hundreds of items takes time and I'd want to play right off.

    Maybe if I had a few chests or safes it would be easier. Too bad the MU is so rough on my PED card.

    Larkin, if you can finish out your Vigi set it might be good. Looks like we will be going against foes armed with either laser or projectile weapons. Also, maybe a decent un(L) weapon for after the LR's are burned out. I expect to TP a lot my first couple days for travel speed, so I'll carry extra ME, something for you to consider.

    Hmm yeah, I'm torn between finishing my vigi or going for some 6As and 5Bs...

    I was hoping to survive on the weapons I loot over there. I don't really like UL weapons that I haven't maxed yet, but I will have to think about it. I might need some more ME yeah :p

    If you plan to do low to medium hunting or mining, use the armor advisor.

    As a "sample" mob that does firearm damage, plug in the Drone Gen 3...
    Then compare Vigi and Shogun with 6A plates...

    Surprise! Shogun with 6A's, more efficient than Vigi. So, I'd forget Vigi and buy 6A's. I sold my Vigi awhile ago and use 6A's on my Vindicator. :D

    For Impact/Melee Mobs, buy a cheap set of Pixie, and slap on a cheap pair of 2A's if needed for additional impact protection. Compare the efficiency of that vs. Shogun against a low/medium impact mob, like an Argonaut Adult.

    If you want to travel light and only have one armor set, maybe just stick with the Shogun and swith plates as needed.

    I'd take everything.

    A few extra minutes spent unloading stuff is "cheaper" than having to pay and travel fees to go back and get stuff you left behind if you want to make it your new home.

    I do like ArmorAdviser, it's a neat little tool. I'll have to fool around on there a bit. I think that my best option is like you said; sell my parts of vigi, and buy some different plates for my shogun.

    I definitely will be taking everything. I'll probably sell everything that I don't need to raise a bit of extra cash as well. No stackables left in storage! It'll make the move a lot easier.

    I have been having the same thoughts on what to bring and what to leave behind. I'm taking everything with me (in boxes/vehicles) except for calypso specific items (hides/wools/DNA). I think i will be able to loot most stackables i loot now on Arkadia too, so it makes sense to keep those.

    To the OP, personally i wouldn't upgrade anything for Arkadia, i would just try to maximize the amount of peds on your card. That way you'll be able to hunt/mine a lot longer and give the arkadia economy some time to establish itself.

    I think this is a really good point lol. Simple really. I should subscribe to it more myself. Have LOTS of PED and then things'll be great.

    The trouble for me is raising a lot of PED before launch :D We'll see what I can do.

    Without knowing the details of Arkadia i.e. type of mob, type of damage etc it's difficult to plan. I would suggest waiting to see what mobs you want to hunt on Arkadia and what the best armour/plates etc are for them before investing in anything.

    I tend to take everything with me when i jump planets. I have a number of storage boxes, chests etc. I take the whole kaboodle :) So just in case i need something i have it with me.

    Indeed, I think the best option will be to stay fluid and bring PED over and not to lock up a lot in items I might not need.

    Update... I've been buying more containers so I can take everything. :) I forgot about vehicle storage, so I'll fill up a couple vehicles too.

    Yeah, a healthy PED card too. That will help to keep going until the economy gets into gear.

    I had also forgotten about vehicle storage! <slaps-self>

    I just KNEW that the two cheap speedboats I got would come in handy...

    Larkin! I will see you over there. I will probably take Gremlin and 5b, shogun and 6A. CB13 and some various other weapons I can grab before I run out the door. Currently station on Rocktropia for some Zombie fun and just waiting for Arkadia to be released to fly over there. I got a storage of stuff on Calypso but i might never go back for it. :)

    Sounds like a lot of serious planning going on here. I'm a professional miner, so armor and guns are just sidelines for me. I'll just walk through the tp with what I usually use to check the place out. If it's too heavy on Stalker type animals and deadly enemy's that a medium weapon can't kill, then I'll just do a quick tour and leave. There are enough places on Calypso that they made into mega hunting spots that I can't even mine now...so hopefully the whole planet of Arkadia won't be too tough for a regular miner.

    I'm sure that they'll have a variety of mobs for all levels to kill. Arkadia Studios says that it will be a complete planet at launch; a complete planet wouldn't only have hard mobs to kill.

    I'm really hoping that there will be some good spots to mine too :)

    I realized a bit ago that I just need enough equipment to survive the initial stages, then I should be able to sustain myself with what I loot over there.

    Just a reminder that the EntropiaTimes March issue is being published on Saturday, and the focus is on Arkadia. We have a great interview article with both Dave and Cyrus, along with a very open Q&A with Deathifier as an investor in Arkadia.
