Maybe stupid writing this on an Arkadia forum I know Arkadia probably have a small team, but i feel that some development goes a bit slow. In by opinion the planet needs to add some more mobs the increase the possible diversity of the loot and maybe add some vehicles on their own. And lootable pvp areas, we need pyrite and other resources only found in this areas. The shops/aparments are a missing also, they are soon here, but a bit late. I could be wrong, but i fear Cyrene soon will eat Arakdia for breakfast if Arkadia don't increase the tempo a bit.
Nah, Arkadia team can take their time and produce quality content instead of just massive content that is buggy. I would rather them take their time and test apartments, new mobs (testing balance), testing land and textures, etc. before they just toss it out there for us to become absolutely frustrated with. Nothing more aggravating then buggy content being added. Hence why I like Arkadia, they seem to produce good content and actually are active in getting players input as to what to put in as content. I was so absolutely sick of the auto generated land from Calypso, that while you walk and mine you fall through into the big ocean, and the way they pushed new content out fast. Then you have to spend months or heck probably years ( not sure how long some bugs have existed since I've only played for a year) playing around a bug because they are trying to add more buggy content instead of fix the already broken stuff. Arkadia team can take their time and produce quality in my opinion. I can wait and will not loose my loyalty to the planet so quickly.
If there are resources that we need they can be sprinkled around the planet without having to introduce pvp. The location of the rarer ores/enmatters on other planets, I suspect, has more to do with the promoting of pvp than anything else. These materials can be put anywhere. Its bad enough that we have pvp space insulating us from the other worlds without bringing it down to the planet, too. But, if there has to be a pvp zone, let them kill and loot themselves. Suckering in miners with the prospect of finding some ore/enmatter found nowhere else, to serve as prey for pk'ers is just plain mean. We have a hard enough time encouraging miners to come here as it is, what with the very limited ability to sell we find. Just my 2 pec.
Im fine with the extension of Arkadia. Calypso is like fallout, so huge...well, I just dislike the overwhelming environments. Maybe, taking advantage of this post, ok I encourage to developers to put the older version of Carabok Anyone more want it?
I don't think that is a good idea. Carabok hide is a good MU loot for new players, helping them to reduce cost to play and to gain understanding of trading, auctions etc. Higher level players are less likely to go for this loot because it is small scale. I did do a couple of sessions using a grenade launcher but only because I want hides for my own crafting. If higher maturities were available then more hide would drop reducing it's MU and it would be a more attractive mob for experienced players, cutting into the sales that new players could make. Actually, I enjoy Fallout more than Calypso. As for Arkadia, I think the A-team is right on track. I like it much better that they put out quality over quantity. Thats is what brought me here, and that is what keeps me here. Regards, Ion
I am fine with the development speed of Arkadia and I love the quality of the content they put out in releases. For as long as I play EU I will most likely be returning to Arkadia regulary for that very reason. However I also see a big problem in what they are doing since launch. Basicaly all that has happened so far is playing catchup with Calypso [ressources, textures, pvp, shops]. I am afraid it won't be possible to ever lure in significant numbers of new blood that way. I appreciate all the work that has gone into the many details of Arkadias graphics/aesthetics! However I think some new gameplay elements that are unique to Arkadia would be needed to make Arkadia kick off for real so it would be possible to stay there for extended periods of time and have a unique experience inside EU. I... hate ... to ... mention this planet here but perhaps something like The Thing on RT would be an option. That was quite an immersive experience and from what I've seen&heard it has lured in quite a bit of fresh blood too.
Yep I think they are doing a nice job. I (as others) would rather have it come slow bug free than fast and fooked up like Calypso. Keep up the good work I say. -Bemo-
Why are everyone so obsessed with vehicles, what good would arkadia specific vehicles do except more usage for mined resources? And more mobs for more diversity or loot, and here we have people complaining of too much diversity in the loot from already existing mobs, but we all know more mobs will come so dont worry. Why do you need lootable pvp areas for pyrite? Just do as another PP did and put it all over the place outside lootable pvp (blood moss, or is ore miners a protected mining society?) Shops apartments have also had it's explanations in other threads so no need to go into that Have you played Cyrene? you do know that it's based on the Entropia platform provided by MindArk? so once again I predict we will see threads as with all new planets "Cyrene just a Calypso copy huge FAIL" just as RT/NI/Ark before them There did I prove your point that this forum wasn't the right place to post? (which I dont understand why you wrote, as I would have done it at PCF/EF/EP too if I seen the thread) PS. as others said better get it right then full of bugs from the start because you rushed it in
I have to agree with the people above who mentioned liking the quality on Arkadia. I hate bugs and crap content. I'd rather wait longer and have better stuff.
It could be yes, it all depends on how good it is. When Arkadia launches a lot of people will go there to visit. This will impact current planets quite a bit. If it's good a lot of people stay and you will have a thriving economy. If it's bad people will leave quickly. So far Cyrene looks very promising though. Although Arkadia seems to have a loyal enough playerbase to survive
speaking of which I was driving into a tunnel, flipped my vehicle (the one from The Thing that can't go round corners), got out and immediately fell through the floor as I was next to the wall. That might be more of an engine issue though
I agree with most here that Arkadia is better in the sense that they take quality over quantity. I haven't even been to every place on Eudoria since the crashing of the War Titan Typhon into Hadesheim. And then they made an anti-Atlantis in the sea of Port Atlantis. Followed by some more islands between Eudoria and that never-finished-but-we-create-new-parts-continent Amathera. Team Arkadia does it right for me. It feels like every hill and stream has been thought about. Not like a random map-generator "Oh this one looks nice! We do that! Where to place it? Here's an empty spot on the map!" Regarding the Caraboks, this is what David has to say about it:
I have been to all the planets each is unique in its own way, and have lots to offer newcomers and older players alike. Some more then others of course. the thing I found with Arkadia, is the outstanding service. Questions are answered very quickly to the best of there knowledge, and your not left in the dark with whats coming up ahead. They have a genuine player base of people who care and want the planet to succeed. Don't look at the problems as "Obstacles" look at them as "Challenges" to be overcome.
No, i have not played Cyrene. But i know it have been in development much longer than Arkadia and have, i think, more resources and a bigger development team. What i have seen have at least made me impressed. The reason i posted this is a bit out of concern that the playerbase is too low and that we lack much basic stuff needed. They need to make the economy and planet more complete soon so they can keep more players. Haveing vehicles and other items that are manufactured on resources only found on Arkadia improves the possiblity to sell stuff to other planets. If you have more mobs you also have more mobs do divide the loot on. Lets say you have 10 type of colors and 5 type of mobs, each mobtype could than be set to have two diffrent colors in the loot. If you have 10 mobs, the loot could be set to have only one color type/mob, which i prefer. More mobs also makes it easier to have more items able to be looted on the planet.
Which is what people said about each planet, but I agree with the time and budget it looks this way. But then it's also up to how creative and good the team is behind the resources and personally I will wait until I see the planet before making any statements, here at Ark we know the A-team is great by what we seen so far lets hope Cyrene is just as good = more EU players yay Please enlighten me what is in serious demand except muscle oil, some extractors and some previous pvp only mined resources(for enhancers or what?)? (BP drops and such we all know by now I think, but much of this is in MAs hands I guess) Thanks for the explanation what you and others mean with this, for the mobs as example I thought you ment more loot thats not on Ark yet, but this change I would welcome IF the mob free areas for mining and clean mob spawns for hunting is still plenty. (as this is another reason I left Caly)
