I just had a sad conversation with another avatar who got trust scammed out of 15k ped worth of gear. I cant name the alleged scammer here. I will say that I have heard her accused before. I hope this guy can get his gear back but I doubt it.

So just a timely reminder folks. Don't lend your gear to others without collateral. Especially your very expensive weapons!!!! It doesnt matter how friendly and nice people act, most of us are actually strangers and cannot be tracked down in real life. For some people the temptation is just too much. And a few poeple are just arseholes that are out to steal from you.

Sounds like it wasnt a trick and more of just a Trust problem.

Sorry to hear this... Trust scams are fairly nasty. Also, this isn't the only problem that has been imported from Calypso. I am seeing far more inconsiderate players now on Arkadia and they aren't exactly noobs.

I had intended to keep playing here but it looks like I'll be back to Calypso after I finish a few things on Ark.

    Iphigia,

a little off topic but I'm sorry you are having some issues on arkadia. I find most people here to be friendly and considerate. Gl back on Caly.

Pretty sure I know who you mean.

We can't name the alleged scammer, but no harm in naming the scammed gear is there? Well, I leave that up to the victim.

Nope, no harm at all in naming the gear.

Also in case someone thinks of it, I believe that seeing as the accused cannot be named, I think it best that neither should the victim, unless they decided to do so by themselves.

Well ok. I was told by the victim, it was a Camo Arms Jungle Stalker + Dante

Coincidentally (?) there is a recent sales thread on PCF attempting to sell this gear combo via PayPal.

Which leads to my next word of advice. Be very very cautious in buying EU gear in currency other than PED. Apart from the difficulty in arranging a safe trade (do you pay and then get the gear or try to get the gear before u pay?) , I feel it indicates a dodgy sale. Yes it's possible the seller is simply trying avoid the lengthy withdrawal process and associated fees but more likely, the sell is trying to offload stolen/scammed property and take the money and run. IMO of course.

I dont know the timing of the alleged scam compared to when that thread started. Coincidences do occur but the paypal aspect is fishy.

Anyway, main purpose of this thread is to alert people to watch out for trust scams. I believe the victim and his society are doing whatever they can in this specific case.

So I have confirmation that pcf sales thread predates the incident. It's unrelated.

So back to main purpose of the thread...

Sorry to hear about your friends loss. I don't know what is worse : the loss of the items or the loss of the trust. I want to be able to trust my friends with everything. But tales as this makes be cautious even with those I've known for years.
