Looks like there are still people who don't know it yet - Carabok Texture blueprint is available at technician terminal. It's just in a wrong category.

Jen, is that the avatars name? If so you can't put it there. Rule 2e.

Dont worry Snape, I put it in Swedish because I knew the one I was referring to would have understood it...

And for once Google was correct lol

the edited part reads: you know who you are... in English (maybe a bit more clear now, I see how you could have mixed it up as a name, since there are so many silly names in here)

So right now there is one guy (who cant be named) who has around 5 carabok bps in auction. I invite you all to take a moment to check for yourself and identify this successful and well known avatar that is ripping noobies off. Perhaps he is a friend of yours or in your soc. If so, I think a quiet word is in order.

I had been aware of the carabok texture BPs being on AH for some time.

Then just a few hours ago, a close RL friend of mine whom I made try this game proudly tells me that he just bid on that BP. The auction is ending in 3 hours so he'll probably be the lucky winner. Great...

Yes, he is a noob and since he is swunting caraboks he thought it would fun to try crafting with his 20 hides. I had told him about some questionable AH practices and the most common game scams, but since someone had bid on the BP already he probably didn't think there could be something suspicious about it.

On the bright side it will cost him only 2 peds so no big deal, and that's actually cheap to learn that some people seem to want to take advantage of newcommers in this game. I know some people learned the (very) hard way and lost much, much more... Could have been worse.

This time the amount was not the end of the world, but regardless, it's just not cool. So Mr. Seller, it would be a nice and symbolic gesture to give him his 2 peds back. It will be really easy because I (Danae Thalia) can be found in the game every day and all day checking in and out at the Celeste Harbour Square. David usually spends a lot of time during week nights and weekends in the game too. Just drop me a pm.

I'm not holding my breath LOL but I think that symbolic gesture would be appreciated by the whole community and show some good faith. Because it's not even about people not doing their homework and not getting informed, it's because the BP happens to have been placed in the wrong section at this time...

P.S. "Mr. Seller" as I called him is not the ava's name! :) lol

yea I almost fell for it as well, couldn't find the texture in the tech, only found it by accident. They wouldn't be able to to that if the texture was easy to find and in right folder ?

So, I used to auction TT BPs all the time.

Why, you ask? Not to scam noobs, but because they were LOOT that I got CRAFTING.

It was only after noticing that one particular BP always failed to sell and asking around that someone told me that it was available at the TT. After some further examination, i found that i had paid 1 ped for a couple of BPs that were available in the TT too. It's a learning process.

I don't know the story of any person selling carabok BP's in the AH right now, but i know this:

I'm getting more and more disturbed by the quickness with which the arkadian community lashes out with titles like "thief", "scammer", "scum" and several others. I've met a lot of nice people here, one on one, that seem to be buying into this type of hysteria and forum-driven hype.

Let he who is without sin throw the first stone. If you're not omnipotent, if you haven't personally spoken with these people and been told that they have been trying to scrape peds off of noobs, you are the ones who are out of line. Nasty, judgemental, and in many cases hypocritical, it's all over this forum. And more and more people seem to be jumping on the bandwagon to escalate the hype.

I have friends here and I like the planet, but I'm honestly feeling the need to distance myself further and further from anyone claiming to be part of an "arkadian community".

I'll tell you what else, as many times as I've thought about throwing in a cople of kPED and being a trader, I will NEVER EVER consider doing that in the current arkadian atmosphere. Apparently, neither will anyone else. If you haven't figured it out yet, this is a major part of the reason why, this thread, and a host of threads just like it.

Settle down, take a walk in the country side. go kill a few carabok and work up a virtual sweat. Please get a lid on this need to burst into hysteria and (probably hypocritical) moral outrage every time someone does something that in some small way might possibly be considered in a negative light.

This is NOT the inquisition, FFS.

    Dear Mutant Atrax Stalker,

    with respect, bollocks.

In the case of the carabok bp seller I am looking at an avatar who is experienced and will not be doing this accidentally. Some days ago I talked to a second guy who had a couple of them for sale and he laughed and told me he bought them from TT and put on auction. If I see the guy refered to in this thread I will be happy to ask him, so far I havent spotted him.

I dont call this scamming. But I don't think its very ethical. Noobies have limited peds and this is simply taking advantage of their inexperience.

Please don't generalise this particular issue to overall attitude to trading practices. This is a thread a about a specific behaviour going on that I dont think is helpful in retaining new players.

    Regards,
    KikkiJikki

Fair enough. I have some respect for your opinion as well. It's a growing concern of mine embodied in this thread. A growing "witch hunt" mentality, and I just finally chose to comment.

Please note that the thread in the general area of the foum warning new players not to purchase these BPs was closed and redirected to the thread full of more experienced players pointing fingers and carrying on. That thread will fall out of sight while this one festers on.

To be honest, i'm not sure who all has had carabok BPs in or out of auction since this ancient practice started being a "hot" issue. I do not that one of those with bids on it is a soc mate of mine, (this was pointed out to me) and I haven't asked him how or why it went into auction. I suspect it already had a bid on it before he could be shamed into removing it.

So I just stopped in to make a (socially risky but important to me) comment that was directly related to (perhaps fully embodied in) this thread.

Sorry for my overuse of punctuation but, yeah....

I'm not starting anything or pointing any particular finger, and i don't care to argue that what these people are right or wrong. I personally don't feel that throwing a TT BP in the auction is a problem.

How many times will you get the ped, and how many times will you wasted 55 pec on fees and TT of the BP? Playing the odds is what we do here.

Some players do it out of malice, some players do it out of curiosity, and some players do it out of ignorance. Disregarding "overall attitude to general trading practices" why are we having a tsk tsk point the finger (not allowed to outright) name and shame over this silly issue?

Somebody sticky up a nice warning in the noob area that this happens all over EU for various reasons, and let's go play.

I guess we disagree on the rights and the wrongs of this practice but thats ok with me. Also have no problem that you speak up about what bothers you. After all thats exactly what I did in this thread.

Only one for sale right now and that's been listed for 4 days. Hopefully there will be no more and there will be no purpose to keeping the thread alive.

    KikkiJikki

Good idea. If someone wants to start a thread with a list of warnings/guides/tips like this for the n00bs then I'll happily make it sticky in the n00b area.

Not a problem mate, at least it's not an overuse of CAPTIAL letters ;) <--- For those wondering, this is meant to be a Joke.

Atrax, you have a wise point and I appreciate that you brought it up. One of the great things about Arkadia is that it is a small community (at least right now!). But small communities do have some negative tendencies—one is a tendency to be judgmental and use emotional shaming to manipulate others' behavior.

You mentioned the abuse of traders on this forum, and I agree. We need to treat traders better on the forum and on Arkadia. Arkadia desperately needs them, and the only way to get them to stay is if we allow them to make a profit from their work. We may get upset about some of the profiteering that's gone on, but if traders are actually able to make exorbitant profits, it's a clear sign that there are not enough traders. Getting more active traders is a much more effective (and pleasant) way to bring profits to a normal level. Traders are the missing link in Arkadia's economy.
