But I'm currently stranded on Rocktropia. I have about 2 ped to my name and no one seems to want to take sweat as payment (or buy it for that matter). I am in a soc but they're currently busy, if someone has a planned trip to go to Rock and back would they mind if I hitched a ride?

I'm liking the fact that y'all have advisers, would be nice get more advice and fresh opinions. The planets seem to be really different in terms of community. While my soc is awesome the majority of calypso seems to be kinda...eh. Also the sweat prices here are pretty bad, might do me some good to be on Ark for a bit.

Also, if I ever do get a ride there, what are the pros and cons with pixie armor vs. your equivalent? Your armor looks so much better and if there aren't a ton of downsides I'm going to find a way to trade it in.

You could always sell the pixie to get ped to travel to Arkadia on. As far as the armors..Id say the advantage for new player is its L and protection does not decline with decay like on the UL pixie. (note I am not an advocate for L gear I think its the biggest fail in EU next to space)

As far as sweat prices and selling sweat.. thats a bygone no matter what planet you are on since the brain children at MA made it basicly worthless for anything but teleportation ( which the killed even further with the addition of vehicles) You will probably be able to get some sweat sold being new player as many buy to help new players get started by that sympathy card wont play for long no matter where you are at.

If you do get to Arkadia there are many "Real" mentors here willing to help. Sadly sorting them out from the ones only in it for mentor gifts will be the hard part. Either way the entire univesal ecnomy is in a sorry state so think any major change like going to new planets thru very carefully. The grass is always brown during a drought no matter what side of the fence you are on.

I'd be willing to pick you up sometime I'm passing by, I'm currently in space, not too far away, but you're probably offline by now. PM me or post times when you will be online and I'll see if I arrange a flight.

I'm a non-depo and it is very painful. I'm still trying to get a feel for the game but I honestly can't. Most online games give you a 7 day trial. This one gives you a 1 hour trial, and that's a tutorial. I sweat for hours on end to hunt for 30 minutes before it's back to the sweat mills since out of the 30 mobs I killed 23 were "The creature wasn't carrying any loot". It's like geez, even 100 ammo would be nice!

The worst part is I'd like to put money in. But I want to put money in because I want to not because I have to. In a normal MMO it's "Ok, 7 days are up, did I have fun, should I buy it?" In Entropia it seems to feel like "Well, maybe I'd have fun if I put money into the game? I don't know, the water sure is pretty though..."

I'm still hanging on the best I can though, I feel like there's something great to this game but I'm still digging at concrete with a spoon trying to get to it.

Hi and welcome ;) ...and first thing you have to learn is...forget every other game ;)...Entropia is pretty much different ....it is not a fast game where you can skillup to the top in a month..most player you find here play for few years..oldimers play since 2005...:) here you dont pay for the game...you pay for the entertainment and your fun..it is like going in a pub or to a cinema.......you alone decide how much is it worth to pay..sometimes more sometimes less...and also you have a chance to get a biggie and cash out your money than....sure you can play without real cash...but that need alot of patience and can be boring sometimes...but as I said you alone decide :)

I can swing by RT right now and pick you up if you want to fly to Arkadia. Or we can meet up to chat in game too. Arkadia is VERY different from RT.

    Edit: OMW to RT station.

I'm currently at the thing stuck on actually trying to kill the thing, worked up enough ped to buy a shotgun but that sucker just won't go down before killing me. Taking a quick shower so I'll be away to a tiny bit. I'm sure I'll be back before you finally pull in due to the new space size. :p

If you arrive before I finish it I'll just do it next time I'm on RT, it's stressing me out enough.

I hate to say this but to survive on Arkadia you have to have a bit of a float or be a regular depositor. You can sell your sweat but it will be just as hard as on any planet. I am personally a person who teleports around a lot, I will teleport 200m just to keep the line of my mining grid neat. But even then I don't burn through much ME, and I have enough ME and sweat that I bought recently to last me for the next few months at least.

If you are truly planning on not depositing even to get started you may be better off on Calypso in the beginning. As a new player who is patient may find a little more opportunity there. (healing for decay/trading/etc.)

If on the other you are willing to make a small deposit to get started there are many people on Arkadia who can teach you to make those peds last and even teach you to make them grow. I am currently also busy with a project similar to this and it is going very well. I am not however saying I am the most eco hippy warrior out there and I am already planning my next huge depo and going to camp crystal palace ;)

Either way enjoy your time and I hope you choose Arkadia we can always use more fun people:)

Entropia is unlike any other game EVER designed. This is not the log in and be the best you can be in a few weeks type game. EU is a LONG TERM commitment.

Heres a few realites from my perspective...

    1. If you came here simply to make money...you will be very disappointed and end up hating it from day one. I think the days of makeing decent money are long gone but it is possible to play at a respectable level for no investment if you work at it. If you are a true gamer and enjoy the exploration and the learning of the game then EU is great for that challenge.

    2. EU IS a zero sum game plain and simple. It is designed to take all of your money whether you deposit to get it or work yer ass of in game to make it. MA will NEVER give you free money thats not their buisness model. Any money made you have to make from sales to other players. The hard part is learning what is sellable and easy enough to get/ take/ or make to do so.

    3. The community for the most part is great.. like any other game it has its ass hats as well ( personal perceptions will sort them out over time) When you first come here Learning is the key to survivability. Button mashing to kill as fast as you can will keep you broke. Spend the first few weeks reading the forums, asking questions on them and try to build up a rep that people will want to help you (begging for ped or gear usually kills that want to help instantly)

Hopefully this sheds a little more light on what you got involved in so you can make your choices as to what route to take a little easier.

    Hang in there, pardner. ;)

You're certainly not going to get the jist of Entropia in your standard 7 days of a trial. There is an insane amount of places to see, people to meet, and things to do. The third part can cost money, but it really depends on what you hope to do in this universe.

If you're not sure, then keep exploring, and hopefully the generosity of others can get you over those humps. If not, and it bothers you that you can't go on w/o paying... well, then... that to me, says it's worth to you to depo $10 (cost of chicken fried steak), and then do some of the things you couldn't before.

How much you decide to deposit (and whenever you want or don't want) is alllll up to you.. ;) If this place teaches you anything, it's the value of patience, restraint, goal setting, and delayed gratification.

    Good luck, amigo.

I've played Wurm Online, which may be an even long-er term game than this one, I'm no stranger to that.

I'm not looking to be the best, to make money, or whatever else. I'm just looking to be able to actually play the game, get to know people, and have fun.

Just a quick question, why can't I put in $5? It seems the perfect amount to me, especially for what I need and have in mind. There also appears to be no paypal option.

You can deposit from PayPal, via paybycash.

You can pay into EU from paybycash and paybycash accepts payments from PayPal, but when I tried to deposit that way I couldn't work out how to transfer money from PayPal to paybycash, so I used a VISA debit card instead.

Also, $10 via the card gave me 96.50 ped, while it appeared that 100 ped via paybycash would have cost $12.99.

Regardless of what planet you are on, I think that gathering stones and fruit are a potentialy more profitable thing for a new player to do than sweating.
The advantage being you get to explore more, the disadvantage being you dont get asmany combat skill gains.

Looks like you got rescued from Rocktropia, but if I misread and you are still there I can buy fruit/stones from you to help you hire a flight.
