Just a quick update regarding the date of the next update for Arkadia. I know how desperately everyone is waiting for the textures to go in, so I'll be pushing MA to get that particular content in sooner if possible. However the next full update is scheduled for 18th October.

I'll ask Cyrus to share some details of the content sometime this week. Thanks for your patience.

Publishing release dates and breaking them time and again hurts those of us planning.

Now I am holding resources (All I could afford) for 3 weeks at the minimum, while trying to plan for a event thats going on as well...

These curveballs are starting to add up. and it looks like more of the things I purchased are on there way to the tt.

Trying to start a ore and enmat buying service again here on the planet, and my 1 week delay promise is turning into 3. Looks bad on us all.

Goodluck getting your future releases out on time. Ill be planning on it.....

Now I'm wishing I hadn't joked about it earlier. Hope to see it 18th then, Dave. Good luck.

This is why people shouldn't expect things until they are actually released. While I'm sure the A-Team is working their hardest to release things as quickly as possible, it sounds like MA (as usual) is the obstruction here. I always have in the back of my mind that things could potentially be pushed back and plan accordingly.

to be honest I am not to surprised, but if this is again MA pushing stuff back, might it not be time for the PP's to have a word with MA to fix this. Every time MA pushes stuff back the costumers of the PP's get disappointed and might even leave.

If in the real world somebody sets a deadline and communicates that to his clients and they communicate it even further, you can not just say, "oh we are not gonna make it, sorry, try next week", "oh we did not make it again, maybe next week". In the real world you would be working 24h a day to get it finished and if you do not wanna do that, stop making promises you can not keep !

(I am assuming it is MA again, because there is no update at all, if it was Arkadia the system update would go on as planned I think)

Very dissappointed, as I suspect the A team is as well. After all this time and so many delays, Cyrus even did an announcement about the textures finally getting ingame, but that Arkadia update was due Sept. 27, postponed until Oct 4, and now postponed until Oct 18. I had just written a lot more but deleted it lol, suffice it to say the recent repeated delays in updates involved not only a platform update, but content updates for 3 of the 4 existing planets, so no, it isn't the A team who caused the delays

Fingers crossed for a miracle and Dave can convince them to at least get the textures in a patch before then, if not, we carry on doing the best we can on Arkadia until the update comes.

you cannot plan for the un-plannable. fact is all software gets updated from time to time. sometimes you can expect it, sometimes you only know it when you try to start the software package. (think MSWindows anytime update).

at Least Dave and Cyrus try to tell us of updates that are in the pipeline. That is more than some games do. so instead of speculating and trying to bomb a majior profit, then have to waste ped when the update doesnt come when the player expected it to, just keep playing the game as normal.

now i am fixing to get flamed!

all i hear these days is MA this, and MA that. MA gets the blame for everything. people come into this game (thats right GAME) thinking they will make money fast and cash out. i get the question all the time "So did you deposit?" now i can tell them yes i did, and you should too. the software may be free to download and operate, but you should really deposit if you want to have any fun playing. MA, and the PP are businesses. and the only reason to be in Business is to make profit. you see it with traders on Caly, and it is no different. how ever how many of you who are so quick to "Down" MA stop to consider....... If it werent for MA we all would be doing something else and spending our money elsewhere because we wouldnt have a game to play. some view this game as "Virtual Reality". same rule applies. you want to do something in "Real Life" you have to pay for it. so why treat the game any different?

Dave, i think you and the A-Team are doing a wonderful job, and would say "Keep up the good work!"

    P. S. dont tell me what i am doing is not "Eco" do you know how much it costs you per hour to own your car? eco = kill it quick before it kills you!

    Skywoulfe,

its not that what u write is incorrect but most of it is not really relevant to the topic of this thread.

I can agree that it's risky to plan your cash flow in game based on an announced content release date but it's risky because MA are notoriously bad at hitting announced released dates. So of course people are going to get a little peeved when it happens.

Oh and as far as Microsoft updates go, well they are almost entirely predictable these days. I lead an infrastructure support team and we plan our software updates 1 to 2 months ahead of time based on the published schedule. very occasionally there will be an urgent security fix but thats not what is going on at MA is it. It's not actually that difficult to plan and implement to a schedule.

    Regards,
    Kikkijikki

Actually, it has everything to do with this thread.. Everyone is all about how MA is screwing up and costing them PED. They're complaining about how MA can't keep their schedule. Has anyone stopped to consider that maybe a serious bug cropped up they didn't foresee and then gave themselves enough time to fix it? No... They just say MA is incompetent!

I agree that it is better to wait then to implement a bug, but why not tell us and why do we have to hear stuff like this from the PP's.

That I can agree with. But just saying they're incompetent is, IMO, irresponsible for us as players.

Well I read back through the thread and didnt find anyone saying MA was incompetant. Can you point it out to me? Or perhaps you are conflating this thread with another.

Yes there are probably very good reasons why MA delayed the release. Just like every other time. But I still claim that with effective planning and software implementation methodologies you can make events like this the exception rather than the rule.

    regards,
    KikkiJikki

I used that mainly as an example. And lately it hasn't been the rule. Just these latest couple of updates... The last few have pretty much been on schedule. So I think it's gotten better recently. But the fact remains that instead of saying thanks for letting us know, the most common response is "I'm losing PED because of MA pushing back the update, so I'm going to be TTing everything." Which I think is a bad idea.

Please don't speculate about MindArk or Arkadia Studios, because no one here clearly and officially stated that this is solely a MindArk problem. And please, everyone (me included) don't ask, and PP don't give, dates or ETAs where you're not able to follow the deadlines.

Personally I don't care if it's MA's or AS fault. This giving out dates into the wild is ridicolous on both (MA or PP) sides, without any anger on my words.

I'd like to point out one thing... If they don't post any release dates, they're going to be bombarded with questions asking when the next update will be. They'll say "in the future" and then everyone will get upset because they're tired if hearing "soon" -- so they're screwed by the community no matter what.

yep I remember when maybe a days notice would be given, with no info about the content until after release. People didnt like that at all.
