Since so many people are concerned, I think there is a need to officially clarify if an Arkadia adviser can be a pirate or not and why.

Sooner or later every Arkadian newbie will enter space and to meet your adviser there, whom you trust, killing you, undermines AA program a bit, don't you think?

The same for the people heading to Arkadia from another planet to become new colonists and being killed and ripped off by their future advisors... who are supposed to heartily welcome them afterwards once they hit the ground and help them to settle?

Don't you think it's all weird?

"Space has nothing to do with Arkadia"?
    I don't think so.

The question is for Cyrus or Dave, since AA program is PP made, sooner or later you guys will have to come up with a set of rules about it, including AA in Space.

So your telling me that Arkadia controls what aspect of space?

So yes, It has nothing to do with arkadia. Just like the other planets have nothing to do with arkadias team.

Arkadia is Arkadia. Before space would you say Arkadia was directly responsible for TP'in to the planet?

Dont get it twisted. Space is not a similar entity to any current PP, MA controls space... And only MA.

I just wanted to mention that not all of us take off our advisor vests when we leave Arkadia (metaphorically speaking, of course). Personally, I try to act consistently toward new players no matter where I am in EU, and I try to keep in mind that there's a real person behind every avatar.

Since I probably cant read your text once more all I can say is this:
Advisers are regular players, not payed or get special treatment from the A-team

Since you all seem to read and to quote the only cut out off the content phrase that is convenient to you, I'll make my post shorter

    how about...

Don't you think it will undermine the image of AA?

Unfortunately, you can't read it even once...

Advisers are NOT regular players in regards to the new colonists, they are volunteers OFFICIALLY working for the A-team in game and on this forum offering HELP, they have special uniform given to them by the A-team.

It's a valid question if they can be allowed to hunt down and rip off the above mentioned new colonists right before the arrival.

I took the "convenient quote" because that was what I said and you directly quoted from me.

Here is something to think about.

Other planet owners, People who have invested heavily in this planet have considerable investments in space. (through purchasing Motherships, and other large vessels) This is perfectly legal for MA..

That should tell you right there, SPACE IS MA's responsibility and only MA's. They would not allow planet partners and investors to be in space if it was illegal.

So before you keep questioning the ethics of the players involved... Maybe you should re-look at the ability everyone within the universe is offered and stop trying to use someones status as a helper for a planet as a reason why they cannot enjoy the only level playing field in the game! The only aspect in which many other parnters dont have there mits on!....

Just something to think about before you keep posting this nonsense =/

Nothing I say can make you change your attitude so consider this my final response to you and your threads, and I let others explain it to you...

Your status as an Arkadian helper should prohibit you to kill and rip off arriving colonists, even if you enjoy it.

At the end of the day the Arkadia Advisors group is a voluntary effort put together by the Arkadia management, and though they are very much interested in our opinions and ideas, it is really up to them to decide what kind of 'rules' if any they want to be in place for the program. We have a code of conduct, but this pirate situation has highlighted the need for deeper clarification and yes, official decisions need to be made and announced, based on what the Arkadia team wants.

I've said elsewhere but will repeat that the whole subject is being discussed and taken seriously, and official comments are forthcoming. For myself, clearly there are two very different opinions in circulation, in the Advisor group and publically about the pirate issue and advisors, but I will support the Arkadia team to decide what they think is appropriate in the end, whatever that may be. If any rules are decided that any advisor doesn't agree with, we can turn in the vest :)

I don't really mind Arkadian Advisers pirating, aslong as they're furfilling their duty it doesn't matter. Solution : Don't trust anybody in space.

I agree with everything Endy said ,

I think that it would not be fair if a newbie some day goes to space and gets robbed by the Adviser who took care of him on Arkadia , that simply doesn't help Arkadia to grow, I expected higher moral standards than this honestly , yes Space is controled by MA but I think ppl cooperating with planets should keep high moral standards wherever they are and not rob potential new ppl investing money and time on Arkadia , this doesn't do any good to the planet and its economy.

Oh gosh that's awesome, thank you!

Unfortunately, you never understand what I'm trying to say, so your replies only wear me down in a long chain of futile efforts to explain it over and over again...

Although I must admit it's challenging and sometimes fun, all in all I'm grateful for the decision you made. :)

I got a solution, give Stagger the robin hood tag!

Steal from the rich, give to the poor!!

LOL in all honesty, ethics say that helping on one hand and taking on the other hand is not good... But.. then again Robin hood was the man.. and Stagger reminds me of him so... I would let the man be knowing who he is as a person..... Most pirates I wouldn't give the time of day if I was a normal person.. but im not, and I dont trust anyone, so a pirate in space doesn't effect me. If at the chance a friend takes a swipe at me I will know for the future not to deal with them.

But in all honesty friendships trump the chance at a few ped to most pirates.. and those of you who realize pirating is acceptable.. AND YOU CAN DO IT TOO! Its a accepted part of the game going forward.. so you better get used to it!

Maybe its just me, I met the man behind the mask a while ago and we've had nothing but respectful and decent exchanges. I know the man is helpful and a great person. What he does on his own time in a KNOWN OPEN PVP zone is up to him and the advisors to decide.

Remember nobody pays him back for the cost to use thrusters, ammo, decay.. its all out of his pocket. If the man wants to pay for some entertainment to get some excitement now and then let him. I personally dont know many people who would give up there time and energy to help out others thoughtlessly.. Honestly.

Takes a real man or woman to do that with respect and dignity, dont forget that!

Well, I'm rather busy atm, so I don't visit the forum every day and for me it's not something that's been brought up a lot recently.

I didn't find any official answer, hence the thread.

I'm pretty happy to know that the problem is taken seriously, and awaiting the official decision with bated breath.

I understand your point, some people like PVP, I'm fine with that, Space is fun, the rub here is that Space is the channel thru which new colonists arrive, and they will turn to you as an official advisor for help, it doesn't matter if you are paid or not, you are an official helper, you signed it, so how do you (they) feel if you just stole their (real) money. Even if it's "legal".

It's like breaking somebody's arm and then taking care of them coz you're a good guy.

It's different from killing a newbie in PVP.

And I'm not taking it seriously, just exaggerating to make some (blind) people to see the difficulty.

You can not be a good guy and a bad guy at the same time towards the same people and be trustworthy.

Anyway, I've said all I wanted to say, I won't post here anymore, you can lock it if you like.

Apologies for posting in an already civil, well-modded and closed thread. I just wanted to say thank you to all who participated in the thread, for keeping this particular piracy discussion civil, and staying within the rules of the forum. Your efforts are much appreciated!
