What's the cheapest way to skill it up?

to skill engineering i would recommend just do some crafting.
or either do vehicle repairing, lots and lots of repairing.
unfortunatly with repairing these days you need welding wires, which in my opinion have a too high markup nowadays.

MU on welding wire is high because of the materials needed.

Alternative is not that easy to get and expensive.

I had to import my own and still had to pay a high MU on RT.
Add the transport costs and the misses in crafting and you end up with a roughly 500% MU on the wires.

Thats where I sell them for anyway, so let me know if you need welding wire :)

The "cheapest" way is always the one where you break even or profit along the way and don't pay indirect for skill gains. For engineering that is possible with certain components from book I (the yellow Caly book) and selling in right (small) stacks sizes over MU after auction fee. Needs some research and discipline though. And patience to get the ores at right price..

But usually mining is the better way to get your first engi skills.

Right now both ways might be a bit problematic on Arkadia as i understand it. Residents might give better advice maybe.

However, most important with skilling crafting is that you have an "plan" and that you simply don't skill when the circumstances don't allow.

Yes, I stick to mining for now, with rookie equipment, and I get some engi skills from drilling I think, not from bombing. When the economy here will be finally functional, I might try low level crafting

I would recommend mining if skillling engineering. Skillgains are quite frequent when drilling up claims and yesterday I found out that using rk-5 to repair ships reactor and repulsion units gives nice skillgains too, but You can never bring enough welding wire! :D

I used several k of welding wire in few hours time. Depends ofcourse how much dmg ship takes and how frequently and how many other "ship-fappers" there are to share the workload, but that's one option to skill engineering.
