Ok before anyone missunderstands this post im not looking to cooperate with pirates merely looking for a pirate thats willing to let me destroy their ship for rep on my ship. Willing to pay 5 ped for the kill.

Why if you ask, I want to get my ship a good rep (not let it lay nutral) and till now havent found any pirate in space with a ship that I actualy stand a chanse to destroy with my VTOL.

This will be the only time I will support a pirate in any way so who ever comes first gets the loot for being blown up (I know its silly and totaly the wrong way around. Me paying you for killing you).

I think a pirate not let you destroy his ship for 5 ped. What can say other pirates.

A question to the OP ... While there is nothing against paying someone for this, but then, what real PvP experience have you gain? IMHO Uber rep should be earned from the actual battle kill, or else you just may paint yourself a pirate target because of your high rep.

Because IMHO paying a Pirate for any reason is just spending good money after bad. The type of activity the OP suggests is in bad form, it lacks grace and defies common sense.

In fact what he's doing is quite honorable.

Let me explain with a story. I had the opportunity of doing the prison missions on Rocktropia. Now some of these missions were pvp. So you could go and kill other players while they were doing their business which would most likely be hunting or you could politely ask someone to volunteer to be killed. The latter method is what most people adopted because it doesn't disrupt anyone and you can return the favour and let them kill you when their turn came.

Now this space thing is a pretty similar situation. At the moment karma is not a requirement for anything but say in future it's a requirement for something that you want to do, will you a) ask someone to volunteer to be killed or b) go to space and really kill someone? Most people will adopt option a) because it's the easiest and doesn't upset any other player. Which is what is likely to happen in the future imho...

PvP is just that ... Player VS Player ... Where is the VS part if you did it by paying someone?

If you guys think the PvP here is bad, go try and play EVE Online for a few months ... :D

Fopsie, ASA and ASF are going to begin combat training in space ASAP, and we'll have a bad Karma ship to use as target practice. More details to follow in another thread shortly.

Jee so meny freaking about this. How is this any diffrent then having a practice shooting event in space like so meny is already doing? It boils down to the same thing, one ship will lose rep while another will gain rep.

Only reason I want to do this is to get my ship of from nutral and place it on good so that when the force chat starts working I will be able to use it and gain some experiance in space fighting while im at it. Not looking to get my ship some insane karma rating merely looking to have my side shown without decaying the crap out of my (L) VTOL.

I see that ASA and ASF is going to hold practice space fight events and already have a bad karma ship for that use so Ill take them up on the offer and dont have to support a Pirate in anyway :)

Besides I think that having a good karma tag evens out the bad tag if you have a naughty passenger.

If a passenger changes your tag to negative, this might cause a over active "space knight" to shoot you because he thinks your a pirate while you are just a hard working honest pilot.

I see it happen that clients will have flights refused since they cause a bad karma tag.

    Regards,
    Ion

OMG you serios? Now ill also have to take a look at my passangers Karma before taking them on a flight. Well I guess its kind of fair but just one question. How do a player get a bad karma rep tag if they dont have their own ship capable of space travel (sounds like a trap an informer would use)? Now I also wonder if you do good or bad things in a ship does it affect your passangers tag aswell ? If so I can also see that some players will refuse to take rides with bad Karma ships because they dont know if their pilot will PK someone in space and give them the tag aswell.

We will likely see the tag or Karma system move to under your avatars name sometime in the future (Cryene is apparently a PVP oriantated planet and this tag will likely be something they want if they want to have factions or something like that)

Karma * skill level = reputation

    From the EU space guide:

A space ship can have a reputation, either as a good or evil ship. The total reputation point is based on both the ship's karma and the captain's and crew's skill; passengers' skills do not count.

Karma points are valid for space ships only and currently there is only one way to gain karma for a ship: by killing other ships.

Now, a clarification here is that the "passengers" here only refer to the 40 or so passengers on a mothership. The passenger on a VTOL or Quad is actually a crew member (gunner=crew).

So, people don't have karma, but they do have skills. Higher crew skills = higher reputation. Whether the reputation is negative or positive depends on the Karma of the ship.

So ships have karma (good/bad) and pilots and crew have skills (low/high), and the combination of the two determines the overall reputation of the ship.

So in other words, if a pirate sits on your ship, it will not give your ship a bad reputation. I've heard people say this is not the case, but perhaps in those instances, the ship actually did have a low level bad karma and the pilot's skills alone were not high enough to display a reputation (so it looked like a neutral ship until a skilled PvP player boarded).

If someone has a ship that normally says notable when they're in it, but has seen the rep go down to rude when they get a passenger, then that would contradict what EU has said about the Karma rating only attaching to ships and not to players.

After the update it looks like you can now kill space creatures for Karma, giving you positive Karma if you are neutral or good, and negative Karma if you are not so good.
