I need to find the quote, but DD made the official statement, that they will spread as many shops as needed... read this as "way more than other planets" or "way more than Calypso released so far"... This will not stop investors but make them loose a lot money sooner or later.

I just hate empty shops - and shops just bourght for investment.

So if a shop could have some kind of colour showing activity in the shop

Green - Very high activity (like in many items sold)
    Yellow - Small Activity
Red - No activity or empty

That would be nice, color code based on the number of items in the shop

I am following suggestions made in this thread and others regarding shops. There have been lots of great ideas.
Most of the ideas need changes made at MA's end, so are unlikely to be things we can implement before the first shops go on sale on Arkadia. However, I am listening and am keen to see if we can develop more options for shop ownership and operations. I am particularly keen on developing a market that has stalls for rent rather than purchase.

one idea would be to have a large central bazaar, with many booths for selling that you can claim for free, but have a tax upon sales. The claim would only last 12-24 hours at which time your stuff goes to inventory, or storage, or to the bazaar claim box, and the booth deed went to the next person to claim it (or the next person on the shop queue, depending on how you implemented it). The idea is that this way newer players can list their kit for sale and not have to overcome an auction fee. They would use this to put some stuff for sale when they are offline.
Then you can have a small sign that they can fill with custom text to advertise, but that would be for a charge, if they choose to use it.

Then just on the other side of the tracks, have the monthly booth rentals, and up on the hill have the booths for long term lease or sale.

make it at least possible to buy your property even if some things are for rent only.

I for one want my very own apartment and then I mean buy as a rented place wouldn't feel at home so I would likely not be bothered to use that system at all.
Shops is another thing tho, even tho I want to be able to buy my very own shop too sometime in the future. Booths might be a good renting place and proper shops would be bought

I will rather buy a shop and appartment then rent one and have to worry that if things dont go right with the shop sometime (slow sales) that I will lose it. Cant think that I will ever use a rent system for a shop or appartment

I sugest a trading/displaying carpet instead. A kind of tool you equip and it lays down in fron tof your ava. While it is equiped you can't move your ava. The carpet has a UI where u can put stuff and price them. These things will show on the carpet for display togetehr with a price.

    Something like this:

I would rather see lots of cheap apartments so there is more people using them. This could be a place to put some of the artifacts we will find. More like a doll house (don't hate me). Before VU9 there was a healthy ingame market for estate decorations, now it's kind of dead. This could be something that diverce Arkadia from the other planets.

My 2 pecs, I didn't read the whole thread so sorry if it has already been posted... I had a shop on Calypso for about three years in Omegaton West Habitat (first year was good, then my neighbouros sold their shop and I had to fight everyweek to get one customer.
A shop can work properly just with a massive work made from the shop owner to adverstize it or you have to be lucky to have a shop close by famous crafters/owners/resellers (see Buzz and Tzepu at Twin Peaks Mall floor 1).
MA should really implement a sort of shop directory available within some terminals to have a good traffic in shops, at the momemnt Auction is still too strenght even if the prices are most of the time higher.

Reasoning behind why I also love Celeste Harbor is because you can walk up to terminals..not have to go in a building around a corner and cramped little space. I think shops should not be like that, not inside a mall (I don't even like shopping in a RL mall) but love to shop alot! Please make them where it is accessable to be running by and window shop if you see something you like or need.

I would def buy a shop, the best thing to stop the resellers is to only allow one shop sale per ava. I am even willing to pay upfront for some prime real estate :)

So will almost everyone of the regular Arkadia player. But as David has already said they wont reserve shops and all shops will be placed in auction when they become available.

Hello, first I state 2 things:
    I. I'm not a potential buyer of a shop
II. I didn't read all posts cose it's too long, so maybe someone allready posted something like this:

I'll compare how shops are on Calypso in my eyes:

    I. I hate to use malls, becose it takes you 2h of running arround and looking for what you need, then comparing prices and so on.
I would suggest that we have or a big screen that all the items in the shop are listed on it, or open shops like on CP (I really like that) or a kind of second "auction".

II. Another thing that really bothers me is the problem with shopkeepers. IE: I cannot move the items while searching in it.
That means: I want to see how a shirt looks like, but it's covered by some pants and I can't move them. ~~ I go away and don't buy nothing at all.

This are the two things that bothers me most about shops, and I mostly use Auction cose of them.
If you're redisining now may be a good chance to do sometihng about it, if not... well, it's just the same, I'll keep on using Auction.

    BB, Unearth.
