I know there are many limitations for MMORPG, still it's amazing what Cryengine2 is capable of: View attachment 920 View attachment 921 (taken from here)
yeah I also liked the thread with CE2 renders on PCF a while ago. However graphics like that will still be a dream for some time unless you own a very powerfull PC. lol
It's beautifull, but remember all the lag and crashes there were with the moving vegitation on Calipso when they tried to make things more realictic. Most ppl don't have the comp's to handle it let alone the net speed. I dont even think the MA servers could deal with it, but it would be glorious
The initial release with the neat areas on Caly was done by people VERY unfamiliar with how to make things and use limited resouces. Id like to see the A Team have a go at an area like FPC did with Fort Troy. Would be great to palay a few areas like that that have been properly optimised. I do have a decent system to play on and would love to really test it.
That level of quality would be actually possible for some underground levels, where you don't have much perspective around.
I was out wandering around dropping probes and came across a few areas close to or better looking then Troy and I had no lag at all. It looked really great and played smoothly. I have already picked out my plot of turf where I want my house and Trinas wildlife refuge to be (AKA LA.)
Aaaahhhhh... The Graphics.... I think it would be possible to have such level of detail, but it would require a very powerful PC to compute the data in the crowded areas. No probs with lost places in the middle of nowhere though. Having a low-end GC, I can say I see the difference between towns (mob herds count too) and lonely places. Cyborg, I have come across a place for Lezardine to settle too ^_^. It's the plain(in fact a very large valley) between Implacable FB and Redoutable FB, just perfect with the Bokol spawn, the grass and the awesome view. Where is Trina's? cheers, .LeZ. //**offtopic //*I just found I can resize the "Quick Reply" text input zone lol, cool feature ^^ *//
The Entropia Cryengine2 implementation still uses the DX9, 32bit version. Cryengine 2 is also available as DX10 64bit. So unless we get that implemented, I`m afraid those graphics won`t be possible.
\ Sorry just read this post. I claim the lake and some of the low flats east of Mamba and south of the ruins. From the northern most lake and half way between there and the ruins. Making the lake the southern middle point of the property. There is a tiny island on that lake where I want my humble home (aka LA shed. Modded of course from what they have on Caly) there is an incredible view of sun rises and sunsets from the edge of that elevated area, and a great view of the flats to the north. If you run that river south its all nicely done similar to Troy area but with Arkadia vegitations. I actuall managed to fly that river thru all them trees in my heli from the big southern lake all the way to where I want my property.
Ahem! Check out Crysis 2 with Cryengine 3 Or:
Cry 3 engine is actually a lower engine then Cryengine 2. It has been optimized for Console which have lower ram and speed. Still it pumps out a nice envirmont. Dont be afraid that cry2 is suddenly out of date because it isnt. I hope MindArk switches to DX10 soon (i mean every card can support it now)
I think these areas that are made like troy and the ones in the trailer are visually stunning. In reality tho they would not serve a purpose in EU. While they add greatly to the feel of the game the funcionality of dense jungle in EU would actually hinder game play. Try spotting the rocks in all that as you wander. Try identifying the mob infront of you on radar before you get close enough and agro it becoming its lunch unintentionally. What I see here on Arkadia and parts of Calypso are a good mix of both worlds. Visualy appealing but still functional in the game mechanics we need to work with. The draw back is Calypso was not designed with effeciency in mind where the Arkadia team is making a respectable effort to have good visual balance with good frame rates to play it in. Cry2 engine is more then enough for what is needed to move EU forward for a long time. Gamebryo could have been better utilised but I see the reasoning to go with the Crytek engine too.
Basically it would be cool to have the max features supported by the engine, but it should be scalable. 64bit only is imho a bad idea, due to backwards compatibility. So would be DX10 only. For the low end machines current svemode + DX9 should be still available, scaling up to the maximum the engine provides, when your machine can handle it. However personally i play in safe mode with ava textures, although my comp can handle more easily, now and then i put it up when i am not out mining/hunting.
