Hey y'all. I'm grinding through the Mission Galactica thingy, and the first few stages were pretty easy. Now I'm on stage IV and it requires 5k worth of Animal Thyroid Oil. I have yet to get a single one of these. What mobs loot this?
I haven't hunted those yet, which probably means they are beyond my current abilities. Thank you though, I will check it out!
Outside Calypso, thyro typically drops from 600...1000 hp mobs. I've seen some of it in Madana Old/Provider, small Kadra and (if my memory serves me right) Bokol Guardian/Dominant. Even if you have dps for them, they may present you with a 'nice' armor decay bill if your Evader level is low. Other options include: if you can put together a 40...50+ dps team with 60...70+ m range - Old Tide Claw on Cyrene; 1000 hp but very slow. Cornundos and Cornundacauda on Calypso - both quite slow, and lowest maturities have like 150 hp. Haven't checked the drop rate lately though.
Yea, I did manage to grind through 75 of the Oweko to complete the Stage I mission, but it was very difficult and I died a lot. It was not fun. Did get a fair amount of oil though. I don't really care for Caly that much, but it might be worth it if I can farm the oils on low level mobs there. Thanks for the advice!
Normal Oratan in the non-lootable pvp near the rig also drop Thyroid oil. They are level 8 to 20 ish mobs and low aggro, this may be ok for you.
I think you should look at auction as the drop rate is quite frustrating. MU has been dropping lately so it shouldn't be too painful.
I didn't have any trouble with the lower ones, but the L18+ ones were tough. I think I have the wrong armor (Musca Adj), which doesn't have Penetration. I only ended up with one thyroid after killing about 30 of them, so I think I will just wait until I can hunt the Oweko effectively. It is pretty low MU, you're correct; but I've committed myself to try and loot everything on my own for the whole mission.
It could be. Haruto above mentioned that thyro mainly drops from 600+ hp mobs. Since I had to try and avoid the larger ones, my low rate could simply be that the L6-L10 Oratans don't really drop it.
Mid-high maturity Hadraada drops them. Can´t say for sure what maturity starts dropping them since i´ve only hunted mixed maturities
I got some from an Orotan prospector - not sure what level as I was concentrating on working towards a Dropship - it was unusual though
I've hunted these quite a bit up to Provider, and never received any; so it must be higher maturity than that.
