See what that A**hole "president" we got is planning? http://www.presidentofvirtualreality.com/
He is goin to steal the teleport system for his personal profit. MA should be ashamed for that fake election and putting a person that probably would not have won if it was a fair election without financial requirements. I am so outraged.

I find all these proposals intriguing. If this is for real, I for one would support these initiatives.

Making tps cost money will go over like a lead balloon. ND has some wiggle room to work on this VP stuff because nobody really cares and most haven't experienced his ego in full bloom. If he throws something like that out into the game people will quickly go from not caring to outright hatred.

Though imo that would be the best thing to happen to this president shit. 90% of MA's ideas are mediocre to outright horrible and they need reminded of that every now and then.

This is too hazy still to jump to conclusions. Even my mentor a long time ago suggested that using the teleporters should actually cost something, not outright cash of course, but an in-game resource. Ideally sweat.

About the rest, I don't know. The numbers he is throwing sound way over the top. You have to have vision to achieve something, but you also need a grip on reality and what leverage you can wield. I'm not a believer in the singularity, nor do I believe that simulated jobs in a simulated world using simulated money created out of thin air (which our real-world currencies already mostly are) is the solution to providing a livelihood for masses of people whose workforce is obsoleted by automation.

But what do I know. Even during my lifetime the world has seen drastic changes, sometimes over the course of a few short months, sometimes in a single day. Maybe we get visited by aliens, maybe a solar superstorm knocks out electricity for extended periods of time. If none of that happens, war is the proven method out of large-scale unemployment... the stirring is already fully underway. Enjoy the game while it lasts.

Edit: Saw this just after finishing here.

Put someone in politics and the first thing they do is tax you, what did you expect?

MA should hang their heads in shame. The idea was shit to start with and then they ran a rigged election.

Putting aside for the moment the merits and pitfalls of the proposal, I think people are getting a little overly angsty both here and on PCF. There is a world of difference between Neverdie putting forward a roadmap for achieving outcomes he proposed during election mode and EU management actually agreeing to proceed and then somehow managing to implement. It is by no means a fait accomplis

I think it's great that Neverdie has put out this proposal with supporting detail for people discuss and react to. Instead of having a knee-jerk reaction to a Neverdie idea, we can point to specific components and assumptions and say "there's a problem here" or "this bit could be good".

Personally I think there are some bad assumptions around the numbers. I think the impacts haven't been fully thought through. For example, the impact on new or non-depositing places will reduce retention. Some parts of the plan are just technically not feasible (eg cross platform/cross game tp - that's just crazy talk).

I also think some parts are a bit vague. How's this conscription thing going to work? Conscription implies mandatory activity but how are you going to monitor or enforce that? And what are all these jobs (apart from finding resources for and crafting tokens) actually going to be?

Add the end of the process, I hope there might be some sort of modified process which is then put to a referendum but who knows. Perhaps the answer will be for a lot of people to stop using tps so much. It's before my time but I understand that, back in the day people had less access to tps and had to run around a lot. Perhaps we need to drive or fly more. There's an opportunity for taxi services right there.

All I can suggest is go and participate in the discussion. Don't be an arsehole about it. If you think the plan has a problem, be constructively destructive. If you have philosophical or ethical issues, bring those to the table too. Perhaps we can get something good out of this process. It's worth a try.

There is also a very high probability that this is something that MA has planned for awhile and just need a fall man / "independent" 3rd party to call for it. Much like the supposed people that requested foot guards way back when.

The idea is rotten at the core though. Things that are fun should cost money. Things that are basic game functions should not cost money. Things that are annoying or tedious should make a small profit.

Extrapolating this idea, we can expect fees for opening storage, crafting terminals, activating the auction, reviving, login, logout, etc etc etc. Just imagine how many jobs you could create when everything costs money.

People not being quick and angry about stupid as shit MA ideas is what brought us decay on equip for armor and clothes, foot guards, explosive bps, and destruction of entire books of bps among other things.

Sadly it would take MA about a half hour to start charging for tp use, since they already have the code figure it is partly there idea.

Personally I think that is a great idea.

I played lots of games without a teleporting system or where this service costed a fee (for example LOTRO, to name one that is a rather big and old name in the industry) and I think is only fair... teleporting is not something we need (everyone could just walk or use personal vehicles to get from point A to point B), but more a convenience (allows us to save time, avoid death risks, etc) and as any convenience/luxury it can easily been charged for.

And if the money generated from people using to pay money to save time would be use to reward people willing to devote time to make money then, by all means necessarily, I stand behind my president and his idea.

This sort of crap makes me sick. How on earth is he your president? Did you vote for him? you did, oh well how heavily was your vote weighted? LOL

The whole election was BS. If it's not a one person one vote election then MA may as well have just pointed at who they wanted and said 'we'll have him', which is essentially what they did.

I did voted for him, I even pressed my other IRL friends that play the game, but don't read forums to go and vote for him, heck, I even tried to convince my in-game friends to go and vote, so yeah, as far as it concerns me he is my president.

And about not having competitors, is not his fault that no one else had the ballz to commit $1,000 to show their real interest and represent an alternative; there's an old quote that says "put your money where your mouth is"... I saw tons of people criticizing Neverdie, but I saw not a single person (or group of people) also putting their money on line and come as an alternative... if ND is really so bad as you claim, then I guess that the opposition would have easily won, so why they haven't done it?

What I said has nothing to do with him being the only candidate but everything to do with the fact that one persons vote could be stronger than 10 peoples votes, depending on various factors. With these kinds of rules you can't have a fair election.

I have nothing against ND, on the couple of occasions I've dealt with him he's been more than fair.

If it comes to it, we the people can just stop using the TP system and work together more.

i'd rather like to see the promised space transport VU first, for which we're already paying quite some time, namely everytime you transfer auction items to some other planet.

and about him being "our" president, why doesn't he first talk to the participants, or creates some discussion forum, or a poll, before he decides any plans or roadmaps for our all future?

who exactly has asked for this another bullshit idea that removes functionality and/or adds costs? what about all other promises from the past that should add jobs and opportunities to EU, i can remember quite a bunch of them?

i'm a little bit pissed about this incredible dumb approach how to do things, but i'm ofc used to it already, which is very sad, but true...
