As you probably know already if you're reading this blog, Entropia Universe is a different kind of game than (almost) any other MMOs out there, and the main reason for this is because it is a RCE (Real Cash Economy) game, which means that you can, at (almost) any time, freely exchange between game currency and real life currency - as in depositing or withdrawing RL$. From one point of view that makes Entropia a “pay to win” game at its best, where money don’t just make your game easier, but literally give you everything you may want – in-game properties (apartments, houses, shops, land areas), gear (weapons, armors, tools) and even skills; there are actually very few things that a big enough PED card can't buy.

Why don't you post your blog on the forums instead of just posting a link?

I think the first reason is obvious... tease the people and if they are interested, follow the link, read the whole article, maybe a few other articles and eventually subscribe/bookmark the blog; if I would post the whole article here, what reason they would have to still follow?

Another reason, which you may remember, is this article, where I just wanted to post some interesting and encouraging math analyze, and it ended backfiring at me to the point where I decided to quit (and done so for more than six months) over it... so I don't want to start more "debates" that can potentially degenerate here.

So I decided to stop posting full articles, ideas, theories on forums since it looked to me that many times the criticism / negative reactions (sometime degenerating even to personal attacks) vastly outnumbers the positive reactions; OFC, I could just post the articles on my blog and do no reference in here, but I thought that some people may still enjoy them, and that's why I thought that is best to still let them know... who wants to follow the link can easily do so (and there are no ads, affiliate links, donation buttons or anything like that there), who doesn't, can just skip my post, and I really fail to see how they would be hurt with anything in the process.

Why not let Alex participate in the forum to the degree that she is comfortable with? If you think she has broken some forum rules then report it and leave it to the admins. Really no need for this negativity.

I don't know if that response was appointed to me or Antrace, but all I did was ask a question. I'll take it as a note that my questions/comments on anything Alex posts are not appreciated and that I might as well stop posting anything on the forums in total because I can't be bothered to join in on the crap that seems to happen here at times.

i don't like redirect or closed eye link to other addresses ..

and i didn't find in this thread anything to talk about too..

Last one but not least, forum is for conversation, so what i have to do, read the blog, and come back here for saying what i think about the article? what will other ppl understand about i'll say?

and ofc i agree anyone can "participate in the forum to the degree that she is comfortable with", but in the same matter anyone can say what he is thinking about the thread.

I don't recall that there is a rule against linking to your own blog with EU-related content. I find it perfectly legitimate to want to keep control over what you publish incl. the right to moderate comments yourself rather than submitting it to someone else's site. And very understandable especially when you've had to experience powerlessness over what happens with your utterances. Also the desire to collate comments rather than have them distributed over several community forums is legitimate.

But then, myself is not the most famous for meticulous studying of rule books. Screw it, never let anyone tell you what and where and when you may or may not speak. Face the music if you run into dissent, but never be cowed. This is to both OP and follow-ups with sensitivities.

    Right, so......
I don't see WHY so much negativity is being drawn here (also in the form of negative rating). I see someone who took the effort of typing out here ideas and thoughts out on a blog and is advertising it. If anything this should be applauded because also people who don't play EU (I hope) will read it so it will bring attention for a small amount towards the game.
Lizzy's question however is legit and was answered, so why is this being followed up by undeserved negativity following up from there? There wasn't anything negative being posted by Alex to start with and a sound explanation why was given.

On topic: The blog post looks interesting, didn't read it all yet into details, might post something on the blog or here whichever Alex prefers for hopefully a good chat about it. Keep on writing, to bad it seems there aren't any subscriptions on it :)

This is what i mean.. from forum rules :

    "l) - External Sites/Blog Leader Threads
If you maintain your own external site, such as a blog or a privately administrated forum of your own etc and you wish to place "Leader threads" here at PAF then you may do so providing you add at least a decent amount of content to the OP and that any and all images used conform to the relevant PAF rules. Posting nothing more than a single line and an link is not acceptable. Whilst PAF does encourage its members to share information, it is not to be used as a means to deliberately drive traffic to your own site. PAF was and is designed to provide the Arkadian community with one place to go to find all the information they need without having to trawl through multiple sites/forums/blogs.

A PM will be sent to you asking you to correct the thread within 48 hours. If no action has been taken during the 48 hours, the thread may be deleted. "

Personally I consider that I added "a decent amount of content", more than "a single line"; apparently you seem to have a different opinion.

But isn't that the kind of situation for which the report button and the moderators exist - to make a better judgement?

Not doing so and trying to enforce (your vision of) the rules as a not moderator probably falls under other forum rule, but then, again, this is not up to me to judge, and I wouldn't want to follow your lead and get on the same path.

All I ask you is to let the moderators do their job; report it if you think it breaks the rules and if they will find my post to be at fault, I would see what my options are from there.

By far, the easiest and less time consuming one, would be to just stop caring of anything and anyone else, just focus on my game play and don't waste my personal time trying to help educate others, because that's just another example when biased people pickup on details and totally miss the main idea, which is that someone dedicated her spare time to create some extra content for current and potential EU players.

i'll just reply (and after this i'll quit) because i don't want let here the feeling i'm deliberately attack you for some personal reasons, because i don't have any.

i 'm just saying, lets do here a summary here, write the main concepts, so ppl after read it can discuss here and also will go and look at your blog.

If you want take this as an advice, not like a critichism, if not .... :) amen...

Instead of just copy/pasting parts of the blog and putting in a link to "Read the full article on my " type of thing like you did in the op, it might be better to just put a link to the blog in your signature and not post threads for each blog entry or whatever, or alternatively ask for critiques of the blog info in the op and link to the blog from the ops, but not copy/past the information. BTW, not sure how much you know about Search Engine Optimization, but copying and pasting parts of articles might actually drop your ratings in certain search engines since they'll read it as spammed advertisement, which will actually cause posting stuff like that to do the exact opposite of what you seem to trying to do by posting that stuff.

Thank you for the fair warning, but:

    1. I don't care much about search engines, but about real people; my goal is to get people to read my articles and maybe learn a think or do or just get a more positive attitude towards EU, not to top the SERPS.

    2. Even if I would care, I really don't believe that what you said is true, and I'll try to explaine why I say that.

First reason is that it is quite a common practice to have blog posts text snippets posted on different sites / aggregators, pointing to the original site.

The second reason is that the link would come from a high-quality, well-established, highly-relevant site, not from a shady newly registered domain, with no real content and full of spammy links going to all kinds of sites.

And, anyway, worst case scenario, there's always the disavow links tool from Google webmaster account, but, as Google say by themselves "In most cases, Google can assess which links to trust without additional guidance, so most normal or typical sites will not need to use this tool."

Some ppl tend to be brave and optimistic, others overly cautious and can get easily spooked even by their own shadows...
Well, that's life. Nothing much we can do about it but... smile! :)

The article is really good thou.
Thanx and keep up the good work!

It's a nice article, from a new player perspective. the 98% loot you mention is because you did your homework and used your knowledge, hunting mobs that came with bonuses, or had nice markup loot. It is about knowing what drops from what that can give you the edge.

Ofcourse there's more to making money in entropia. For example: Services. If you run services for other players, then you are also working and the "working at mcdonald's vs sweating" argument doesn't cut it anymore. If you are a high level healer, you could get more than minumum wage, especially if you combine with investing your earnings. Because that's where our game excels vs real life.
Then there's being smart or being the first or finding the niche. A soc mate of ours, Sliver made quite a nice income crafting cyrene wings, because he was the only one that held the blueprint. There will always be these niches. Crafting certain ores on different planets and selling it on others because you know you can get more markup. etc etc.
Then there are those who think they know how loot works. I have my own theory and it has yet to fail me.
Knowledge is power. Accumulate as much as you can from any source you can pick it up from. Invest a bit of money. Have a nose for changes in the universe and then you can make it.
The other hint I can give to new players , is that perseverence , dedication and patience are three important character traits which can lead to success. I have seen lots of players come, fly when they should learn how to crawl, deposit too much money an rage quit when the system didn't pay up.
I am not saying I made it, but I certainly have made some of my goals come true. The game pays me, and it is because I payed attention and made the right choices at the right moment.
