If you don't have big guns or big pockets to throw away, stay home. Unfortunately, these events are where the big players get the good loot and the little guys are left with not much to show.
My meaning isn't to bash this event, it's a great idea. This is simply a warning that if you aren't at least shooting lvl 50 or higher weapons, don't bother unless you want to lose your ped.
    Good luck!

    Not true, I looted a PLP-57 and an Ardora 7 using a PLR-37...

Overall, I have just about broken even not including the skill gains.

BTW - Have had fun too.

I know of people using TT guns and profiting from this event.

So it's fine for newbies / ubers to both take part in such events.

I just used some mid lvl weapons and profited during this event. No uber stuff needed, no armor used cos of the free healing from the Ark developers.

    Good event!

Do you get money back when you go out drinking beer with your friends? Do you go home with a nice lady every night you hit the clubs, or were all the drinks just wasted?

It is understandable how this perception arises in game. It's a rite of passage until you make experiences to the contrary. I received items against the odds twice, but you can easily exhaust your bankroll before that happens. Set yourself a budget and consider it spent on having a good time. If you can't do that and absolutely must walk away with something every day, better don't participate. Or don't play games in the first place.

I think, like always, truth lies somewhere in the middle. :)

Sure, you can get lucky and get a nice item even shooting a TT gun (it happened before and it will sure happen again). Also, sure, you can have a lot of fun and, as long as you accounted the spent money for "entertainment", there's no problem with that.

But, on the other hand, the truth is that as a low/mid level hunter participating in such an event you're running against the odds and more often than not you'll end up loosing money (and loosing them much faster compared with hunting within your level).

It started out bad for me when i missed most of the HoFs,but in the end it was a awesome ewent for me where i gott several weapons and a big fat sweet profit to sum it up for ones. I wish this would be the standard for the comming year hehe but i know better ;)
And i most say i newer seen so many players at ones in a Oratan ewent either a bit to many for me at times but happy to se it anyway :)
    Well done A-Team !
    Cheers

In regards to "newbies" or low profession levels attending, they too can loot nice items. Happened to me once. Also, don't forget about skill gain. Sure, you could probably have the same skill gains on other mobs with a minor break-even/profit on the side. But that too is not guaranteed.

I believe setting a budget before hand and sticking to it is a good idea. That way you have decided that this amount is okay to lose in the event of crap return.

I missed the event because I had a minor 3 weeks break from the game. But given the nature of the last event I participated in I'm not sure I would've attended this one. I'm too low in skills to take on the lower mobs on my own and the more experienced players can kill them just fine without someone like me trying to get a few hits in, and the amount of massive mobs were very, very low.
